Description (EN):

Project will be implemented by 3 Beneficiaries: Druskininkai Municipality – Lead Beneficiary, Grodno State Museum of the History of Religion (Beneficiary 2) and Druskininkai Cultural Centre (Beneficiariy 3). The main problem in Druskininkai and Grodno region is that the potential of cultural heritage is not efficiently exploited for cultural and tourism purposes. The project aims at preserving and promoting cultural heritage and traditional skills for cultural and tourism purposes in cross-border region by fostering cultural and tourism infrastructure, organizing joint cultural events and strengthening cooperation of tourism and cultural professionals. As a result of the project, the overhaul of cultural heritage site Leipalingis manor will be completed; it will be adapted for local community and joint cross-border cultural, educational and tourism needs; the premises of Grodno State Museum of the History of Religion - Hreptovichi palace will be adapted for conferences and seminars, concerts, exhibitions educational and other events; joint cultural activities promoting traditional heritage in heritage sites will be implemented, experience share and training events for tourism and cultural professionals will be organized. Creative use of local heritage and unique traditions will not only increase the welfare and quality of life of the residents and tourists coming to the region, but would also boost the competitive advantage of the area. It will result in a greater variety of cultural services and contribute to promotion of the region as a single tourism destination. Project activities will emphasise cultural heritage as a source of common identity and shared values stressing the role of culture in developing its attractiveness. Joint actions will stimulate cross-border cultural and ecological tourism development. Increased number of tourists and length of their stay will have a positive impact on economic growth of the region.
