Description (EN):

The main objective of this activity is on the one hand to contribute to understanding possible territorial consequences, opportunities and challenges, of three “what-if” questions and with that to support policy development and agenda setting at relevant scales (European, national,regional and local). On the other hand the aim is to develop more general guidelines for territorial foresight studies within ESPON. Further reading please see below.

Expected Results (EN):

The main outcome of this service should be insight, evidence and information in order tounderstand possible evolutions and territorial consequences, opportunities and challenges.In addition, the outcome of this activity should inform policy development and agenda setting,including sectoral and territorial analyses, priority lists, road maps and policy options, related to the territorial consequences of: the implementation of a new place-based economic organisation within a certain radius(50-100 km) as part of a circular economy, a 100% renewable energy production and consumption in Europe, major changes in European property markets or even collapse.A fourth outcome should be some first guidelines that can be used in future territorial foresight studies to include a territorial focus, structure the study, apply methods, set up an participatory approach and learn from the lessons drawn in this research activity.
