Description (EN): The main objective of this service contract is to provide recommendations that could support regions and cities in their positioning and defining their policies towards receiving FDI, as well as integrating the attraction of foreign firms in regional development strategies. Expected Results (EN):

Updated evidence on the pattern and recent trends (last 10 years) of inward FDI flows towards Europe at sub-national level (preferably at NUTS 3), identification of the main (territorial) factors that determine FDI location in Europe in manufacturing and services industries (and sub-sectors), understanding of the global integration of inward FDI in Europe, i.e. relation with the home countries of the headquarters, understanding and quantification of the importance of FDI in national production,creation of new jobs, employment and in all investments in less developed, transition and more developed regions, as well as in rural, intermediate and urban regions, identification of nations, regions and cities that successfully have strengthened their location specific advantages to attract FDI (in manufacturing and service industries), establishment of a typology of European regions in relation to inward FDI flows, identification of possible relations between inward FDI flows, job creation, employment,economic growth and research and innovation, 5-7 case studies at a lower geographical level (preferably NUTS 3) but giving a wide and balanced geographical coverage, focusing on the territorial dimension of inward FDI flows in European regions.
