The Alps are a sensitive environment and the negative impacts of transport (as a main source of emissions and land consumption) have massive impact on the life quality in this area, because many citizens rely on motorized instead on low-carbon mobility options. The shift to sustainable, low-carbon mobility is in the heart of our project, especially when travelling cross-border (regional and national). We aim to offer improved access to low-carbon mobility options and provide seamless, cross-border information through end-user services for tourists and for citizens, in particular for daily commuters so that they change mobility behavior. This way they will access information on all available services (also outside of their region) in one single entry point, plan their trips from door-to-door by using sustainable transport modes and receive up-to-date information (real-time) as the data will be provided by existing service providers in the regions that are linked together in a decentralized manner. We bring together 14 partners from 6 AS countries (+ relevant observers, also from LI) that tackle the common challenge. We know that this is not a purely technical issue. Hence we focus on building-up the international, operational structure based on an aligned organisational framework for a linked, low-carbon AS. Providing this strategy and a decision-support handbook (addressing different levels in this multi-governed field) we will support public decision makers (inside and outside the project) to uptake the results and become part of a decentralized, distributed system for linking mobility information services across the borders to foster the access to more sustainable passenger transport. But foremost the citizens will benefit from the cross-border journey planning system on low-carbon mobility, by providing easier,more comfortable access to travel information, cross-border trip planning and aligned mobility services.

Achievements (EN):

LinkingAlps created an Alpine-wide standardised exchange service of travel information. Thanks to this service, it is now possible to compile the information provided by the individual information systems into a continuous travel chain. This way, people can access all travel information through their usual transport information portal. By easing the information search, LinkingAlps encourages the shift from individual cars towards low carbon mobility options like public and on-demand transport.

Expected Results (EN): Level of potential to access and use low carbon mobility and transport options

Expected Outputs (EN):

Main result is increased usage of sustainable mobility through easier access to high-quality travel information and seamless routing information (door-to-door) across borders, operators and modes in the AS (which is enabled through novel technologies). LinkingAlps will result in harmonised, organisational and operational elements (i.e. standards, procedures) for linking the low carbon mobility information services. It will foster alternative multimodal mobility by providing seamless travel chains (going beyond the own region's mobility options) through easer accessible information. Finally an increased number of interoperable, inter-linked mobility information services across the AS area will foster the modal shift and exploitation of PT.
