The clients of social services facilities in both regions are very often not only mentally disabled but also physically disabled people. Clients who are served and/or live in these places usually suffer from serious or incurable diseases. In order to improve the healthcare provided to them it is necessary to improve skills and knowledge of social care services facilities’ staff as well as to create better conditions for activities and therapies in social care services facilities. Košice Self-governing Region is the founder of 13 social services facilities but it also supports more than 250 social services facilities of private ownership. The city of Uzhhorod cares about people with special needs, through the work of social objects organizations of various forms of ownership, including public and charitable organizations. Facilities on both sides of the border include clients with Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, pervasive developmental disorder, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, dementia of a different type of aetiology, deaf blindness, and AIDS. Organizations on SK side provide not only social services but also nursing care to clients, however, this situation puts higher demand on the employees of the facility, their education and competences. Especially UA organizations do not have enough of the necessary material and technical basis for the implementation of quality services in the sphere of health care, rehabilitation, provision of basic needs and supporting the health of clients.

Expected Results (EN):

1. Improve skills and knowledge of social care services facilities’ staff. Providing social services including nursing care is very demanding and requires monitoring of new and innovative approaches and trends in the area in order to provide care of a good quality for the seriously ill person. To improve health we need to achieve full or partial recovery of the functions, lost due to illness or injury, through the use of manual therapy, physical and psychological rehabilitation, exercise, physical, electrotherapeutic and mechanical means, and movement exercises. In order to improve the skills and knowledge of the staff training activities and study visits will be carried out. 2. Create better conditions for activities and therapies in social care services facilities. The number of immobile clients and clients with morbid obesity is increasing. Treatment and care of such clients is physically demanding. Appropriate equipment would reduce the demands for physical staffing. Especially in Transcarpathia region social facilities do not have enough of the necessary material and technical basis for the implementation of quality services in the sphere of health care, rehabilitation, provision of basic needs and supporting the health of clients. Therefore upgrading of material and technical basis of social facilities will help to reach a higher level of quality in providing social and medical services and it will also reduce the workload on staff, as well as improve the health state of clients.
