STEP-UP project is capitalizing the results of INTERMODAL and will use the information technologies and applications to foster the multimodal passenger mobility and will identify best practices to reduce common technical and organizational problems. The project foresees 6 pilot activities that will test the implementation of the new services promoted into the mobility platform for a benefit of both - citizens and tourists - in terms of easier travel planning concerning urban, interurban and cross-border level.

Achievements (EN):

Marche Region has developed a door to door multimodal travel planner platform Marche Region has a strategical geographic position and it can be reached in different ways, by plane, by bus or by ferry. Its capital city Ancona is considered a strategic starting point for tourists and residents to travel across Europe. The lack of a single multimodal information system and the difficulty to display transport information, discourage users to start their travel from Ancona or using public transport (like train or bus) to reach the interchange HUBs. Thanks to the STEP-UP project, Marche Region is overcoming the limits of previously web-based system, in fact it includes also other transport model (for example train and ferry) for a wider European connection. Lead partner, Marche Region has developed a door to door multimodal travel planner platform in order to facilitate at first the access to the transport network and on the other side to attract more demand thanks to the inclusion of events and points of interest. It is important to offer easy and complete information for high-quality users’ experience avoiding the proliferation of web applications. Marche Region aims at reaching as many travellers as possible, thus the STEP-UP functionalities will be also accessible by a mobile app. The E-planner – Never been so close is available through the following link: https://www.stepup-tp.eu/ INNOVATIVE DOOR TO DOOR MULTIMODAL TRAVEL PLANNER PLATFORM: During the project, Municipality of Lecce implements new features for a complete door to door multimodal travel planner platform in order to achieve its objectives and to facilitate the access to the transport network for tourists and citizens, especially during the peak-season to limit the use of private cars. The final pilot site includes different elements and features implemented at local level, both to reach the local and wider aim of the project. Hereafter, what has been developed. Feeding and improving the current database with new mobility data about different transport operators. Different transport modes are in the regional web portal. Establishment of a new wider network to includes new mobility data from different transport modes This includes the data integration into the current networking to allow a generation of a new network useful for the algorithm used for “plan your trip”. Map licences brought for 2 years on; it is used by the algorithm for searching solution at regional level Improvements about data, features and tools are deployed in real environment to allow the running of the local pilot and to share data with the STEP-UP platform https://www.stepup-tp.eu/ Management and maintenance of data about territory: POIs and Events. These elements have to be available in the STEP-UP portal to allow the multimodality and interoperability across areas. Through a back-office created for the STEP-UP project, the Municipality of Lecce is responsible for uploading POI and Event data into the master portal to attract users in its territory also during off-peak hours.
