Description (EN):

Medininkai BCP is the biggest international road BCP on the LT-BY state border. Therefore the main problem, which is mutual for both Medininkai (LT) and Kamennyj Log (BY) BCPs, is ineffective border crossing process due to poor and insufficient infrastructure. This project will contribute towards improving border crossing process by reducing waiting time and ensuring safety for the people crossing the border. Specific objectives: 1) To strengthen relations among people and organisations from Lithuania and Belarus by creating the better conditions and infrastructure for facilitating the mobility of persons, goods and capital through the border. 2) To improve travelling conditions through the Medininkai - Kamennyj Log BCPs. Project outputs: - Modernized road section between Medininkai and Kamennyj Log BCPs (road section widened from 4 to 8 traffic lanes). The utility networks will be installed and pedestrian paths will be constructed as well as the additional traffic limitation elements. - Partner experience exchange meetings for employees of BCPs will be organised in order to coordinate the requirements for the infrastructure, deal with issues jointly, exchange experience and thus strengthen competencies and increase know-how of border crossing process. Project results: - Medininkai BCP with increased throughput capacity. - Increased designed transport throughput of the road, connecting Medininkai and Kamennyj Log BCPs will be 6000 vehicles/day. - Reduced heavyweight transport waiting time by 0,48 hour/vehicle by 2047.
