Achievements (EN):

The BUSY project was undertaken to reinforce capacity building of youth entrepreneurs and self-employed people to start businesses across the border. The idea was to find creative solutions that can provide young people with the opportunities to develop professionally while staying in the region. BUSY provided a direct channel of introduction for start-up teams to pitching trainings, start-up bootcamps and entrepreneurship conferences to ensure a high-quality professional training, networking and exposure to mentors, facilitators and a pool of investors to help participating project start-ups and individual young entrepreneurs to grow and develop their businesses consciously and with confidence across the border.

Expected Results (EN):

Due to the implementation of the project, the amount of start-ups in the region will increase. The majority of start-ups will be of a cross-border nature and will target the following industries: ICT (games and media), national crafts and eco-business. Taking into account the increased amount of start-ups and economic spheres that they will cover, we expect the increase of both investment attractiveness and attractiveness for youth. Moreover, due to the establishment of new start-ups more work positions oriented at young people will be created. Besides, increased market competence will stimulate higher performance, the development of innovations and improvement of employees' well-being. The network of CBC-oriented young entrepreneurs will allow for the strengthening of sustainability for business partnerships. The favourable climate for further start-up development will be maintained via regional support mechanisms that will encourage youth entrepreneurs and start-ups to work across the border and improve understanding of cultural backgrounds of business partners and clients. The start-ups, that will be developed within the project, will promote the concept of environmental friendly and socially responsible enterprises. The project will provide a direct channel of introduction for Russian start-ups to pitching trainings, start-up bootcamps and entrepreneurship conferences to insure a high-quality professional training, networking and exposure to world-class mentors, facilitators and an excellent pool of investors to help participating project start-ups and individual young entrepreneurs to grow and develop their businesses consciously and with confidence across the border. This will be done by finding the right match among the potential partners, financiers, customers and mentors during the period of the project by actively participating in its activities and utilizing its framework.

Expected Outputs (EN):

1.Youth start-ups, individual traders and SMEs and potential entrepreneurs are encouraged / empowered to start business networking and cross-border economic cooperation. 2. The policies and guidelines based upon the best practices and EU recommendations promoting youth entrepreneurship and self-employment in the cross-border areas are developed and piloted. 3. Business support services and infrastructure for young start-ups willing to work across the border are in place, and are well-synchronised / tuned on the Russian and Finnish side. 4. The capacity of young entrepreneurs and start-ups to start cross-border economic cooperation increased; road map on support measures for cross-border projects is introduced to local officials, municipal managers, educational institutions and institutions for business support. 5. New funding models connecting youth SMEs with both public and private financial resources identified and transferred.
