Across the NSR many people are experiencing social isolation and/or loneliness. This is a multifaceted problem and finding a solution requires action from multiple agencies for its successful alleviation. The public sector is struggling to address such a complex problem. I2I will focus on innovation in service delivery (including utilising new technology, e.g. serious gaming, apps, chatbots, VR/AR) through bringing organisations together and co-creating solutions with the target groups. Therefore, the overall objective in I2I is to enhance innovation in social service delivery to improve social inclusion and counteract loneliness in NSR communities and neighbourhoods. The NSR regions involved will increase the capacity of public authorities to develop innovative services and provide them with new tools and solutions in order to improve social inclusion and tackle loneliness. It aims to do this by making existing services more integrated and improving cross-sector collaboration using a quadruple helix user-centred approach working with service-/co-design methods. Transnational cooperation enhances both efficiency and promotes broader thinking to stimulate innovation. It provides the testing ground for innovative community-based interventions and tools, creating more effective services for citizens while raising awareness of the issue in the NSR and increasing the innovation capacity of the public sector in regions around the Northsea to deal with social isolation.

Achievements (EN):

Over the past three and a half years, the I2I project has been a catalyst for community transformation, fostering deeper connections between citizens and their neighborhoods. Through interventions, services, and activities, the project has ignited a spirit of engagement that enhances social inclusion. The I2I partners, harnessing the power of co-creation, have worked directly with residents to pinpoint their needs, employing dynamic tools like personas and prototyping. This collaborative approach has paved the way for impactful and sustainable community interventions. The synergy among I2I partners has sparked new methodologies, enriching the collective expertise and inspiring the trial of novel approaches. This journey has positioned the I2I collaborators at the forefront of community service innovation, offering a diverse array of well-being activities tailored to the needs of various groups. The project's success stories are not just impactful—they're newsworthy. The clear, compelling narrative around social inclusion has resonated widely, ensuring that service providers grasp the profound benefits of such community activities. By crafting detailed case studies, I2I has provided a blueprint for success—offering both the evidence of transformative impacts and the practical steps for replication to service providers and social prescribers. With an integrated, transnational strategy, the I2I project has made a measurable difference—508 individuals report feeling less isolated thanks to the interventions developed. I2I's commitment to collaborative innovation is evident in its inclusive approach, bringing together a diverse array of stakeholders from all sectors. The result is a rich tapestry of partnerships united in addressing critical social challenges. Despite the complexity of social issues and the varied nature of community needs, which can sometimes delay progress, the collective resolve remains strong. The final evaluations of I2I not only underscore the effectiveness of the interventions but also serve as a motivational guide for others to follow, ensuring the project's legacy will inspire and enable further initiatives across Europe.
