BEST MED contributes to the objective of enhancing MED Governance, being the main challenges seasonality and lack of effective cooperation among main tourism actors, including the citizen active participation on the policies designPartnership of 10 regions and 11 partners, commitmment of 11 associated partners is involved in this Project that contributes to support evidence-based planning, monitoring and evaluation of interventions in MED programme, by getting a joint approach on “green” planning based on and improving the outputs gained by other projects such as Tourism Data indicators toolkit and Green Beach Model (MITOMED+), and Tourism sustainability toolkit in Mediterranean (CO-EVOLVE) on a widen model for routes linking coastal and maritime and inland destinations, as well as other projects outputsIt aims to have a new integrated and sustainable touristic planning aiming at the mitigation of seasonality in the MED area, through the connection between coastal regions to inland regions, such as a path-route method. A testing phase will obtain a joint model that will be transfered and capitalised as well as the toolkit and DATA indicators updatedWe propose to analyse positive and negative impacts of tourism on the quality of life of tourists, residents and about the quality of the tourist's experience, proposed in the Faro Convention AP 2019 COEA MoU and Granada Charter on Sustainable Tourism will be signed for transferability and sustainability of outputs

Achievements (EN):

During the first period, the partnership has worked to stablish different mechanisms of coordination for an adequate management and internal/external communication. For this purpose, Best Med Project attended to the LP Seminar organised by the JS/Interreg MED in Marseille last 10th and 11th December, 2019 where the project was presented. In this framework, the 1st SCM and KoM were organised in Malta last 30th and 31st January, 2020. During the SCM, the project's guidelines were presented and several mechanisms were discussed for coordination and to carry out the deliverables of the WPs. The management of WP1, WP2 and WP3 were discussed. Also, our Project Officer, Ms. Francesca Marcato attended and made a presentation about the Interreg MED Program and its architecture and the certification process. The Project Communication Officer of Interreg MED, Mr. Paolo Emerenciano, also attended and presented the framework for the development of WP2 Communication. On the other hand, Best Med made the project's presentation and gave several contributions as well in the Coordination Meeting organised by Interreg Med and Panoramed in Madrid last 19th and 20th February, 2020. The participation in these meetings was crucial for Best Med in order to stablish the basis for the collaboration of the project with Horizontal Projects (HPs), other Strategic Projects (SPs), specially Smartmed, and PANORAMED. This was the starting point of the mainstreaming activities that Best Med is currently supporting and implementing. These mainstream actions leaded by Interreg MED are focused on the kowledge and good practices in the MED area in relation to sustainable tourism. Furhtermore, in terms of coordination with the MED Sustainable Community, Best Med began to work in this period by integrating itself in this community building and searching for synergies and identifying the most important elements of the project (outputs, needs and expectations).Our Horizontal Angel from Med Tourism Community is Barcelona Council whom we have opened an interesting line of collaboration. For last, and in reference to internal and external communication, Best Med made a project's group in CIRCABC platform (Communication and Information Resource Centre for Administration, Businesses and Citizens) of the European Commision, which is a very valuable tool to share documents and been connected. Lastly, Best Med opened 1 Twitter and 1 Linkedin profile and started the works for the project's web.
