The overall objective of the AQUAINVERT project aims to promote the development of sustainable and innovative aquaculture by promoting R &; D for the production of marine invertebrates of commercial interest to diversify production activities that are environmentally compatible with an ecosystemic approach. The project has 3 specific objectives: 1) Create a joint cross-border and transnational exchange platform for the development of sustainable aquaculture techniques in outermost regions that are part of the cooperation space. 2) Enhance the R&D knowledge of research centres on invertebrate production techniques of commercial interest in order to strengthen their joint participation in competitive projects and develop applicable production protocols, contributing to diversify the activities of the sector. 3) To assess the development potential of integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) techniques in Macaronesia.

El objetivo general del proyecto AQUAINVERT persigue potenciar el desarrollo de una acuicultura sostenible e innovadora fomentando la I+D para la producción de invertebrados marinos de interés comercial para diversificar actividades productoras que sean ambientalmente compatibles aplicando un enfoque ecosistemico. El proyecto consta con 3 objetivos específicos: 1) Crear una plataforma conjunta de intercambio, transfronteriza y transnacional, para el desarrollo de técnicas acuicolas sostenibles en regiones ultra-periféricas que forman parte del espacio de cooperación. 2) Potenciar los conocimientos en I+D de los centros de investigación sobre técnicas de producción de invertebrados de interés comercial para fortalecer su participación conjunta en proyectos competitivos y desarrollar protocolos de producción aplicables, contribuyendo a diversificar las actividades del sector. 3) Valorar el potencial de desarrollo de técnicas de acuicultura multi-trófica integrada (IMTA) en la Macaronesia.
