Description (EN):

Baja and Sombor offer widespread tourism opportunities. The surroundings of the two cities present an exceptional basis for different active tourism activities, including cycling, nature trails and water tourism. Both settlements have rich architectu ral and gastronomy heritage, and provide specific tourism attractions as well (e.g. Sugovica and Danube waterways, adventure park in Baja; wide range of cycling and water tourism infrastructure in Sombor). Initiated by 3 partners (municipalities of t he two cities and the tourism destination management organisation of Baja), the aim of the project is the development of the active tourism potential of the region via small scale infrastructure development (including cycling and water tourism servic e points in both cities), adjacent purchase of water tourism equipment, and various soft measures (a mobile application, training courses, sport and tourism events, and a comprehensive communication campaign). A detailed study will also be prepared i n the framework of the project, targeting the identification of natural and cultural attractions and mobilising service providers of the region, the development of thematic routes connecting them, and the preparation of marketing/promotional activiti es. The project includes important elements helping disabled people: we promote their inclusion in outdoor activities in various ways (e.g. tandem cycling, para sport events), and develop accessible facilities and infrastructure (the most important of these being the accessibility development of the Baja Sugovica bathing bank). These efforts will strengthen the positive attitude towards disabled people in both countries. The project will also serve as an awareness raising effort towards the pr eservation of natural reserves and cultural heritage of the area, the benefits of nature-friendly activities, as well as shared cultural values and historic bonds between HU and SRB society.
