Description (EN):

EFREA project aims to improve cross-border institutional framework with the increased level of knowledge, innovative potential and lifelong learning in renewable energy production in the Arctic. It develops guidelines, recommendations and educational materials on implementation of lightweight energy-independent, robust, environmentally safe and cost-effective structures able to operate in the extreme temperatures.

EFREA hankkeessa kehitetään raja-alueen toimijoiden osaamis- ja innovaatiopotentiaalia sekä elinikäisen oppimisen menetelmiä, jotka keskittyvät arktisen alueen uusiutuvan energian tuotantoon. Hanke tuottaa ohjeita, suosituksia sekä oppimateriaalia kevyeen energia-riippumattomaan, lujaan, ympäristöystävälliseen ja kustannustehokkaaseen toimintaan äärimmäisissä lämpötiloissa.

Проект EFREA направлен на совершенствование трансграничной институциональной структуры в области производства возобновляемых источников энергии в Арктике путем повышения уровня знаний, инновационного потенциала и непрерывного обучения. Будут разработаны инструкции, рекомендации и образовательные материалы по внедрению легких, энергонезависимых, надежных, экологически безопасных и экономичных конструкций, способных работать при экстремальных температурах.

Achievements (EN):

Considering the exceptional circumstances and occurred episodes during the whole project implementation period, the achievements of the project EFREA were satisfactory. The main objectives were developing structures for remote Arctic areas with a key aspect the need of cost-efficient ways of manufacturing these structures, including the safety aspects at the same time, and increasing the level of education and knowledge related to the matters in this theme. These were achieved for the most part by means of various activities, which comprised research activities (e.g., scientific articles and theses), seminars as well as new teaching environments and education tools. As a summary, the project EFREA produced new knowledge and information in terms of energy-efficient and environmentally safe systems and structures for renewable energy production in Arctic areas and extreme conditions.
