Description (EN):

The main objective of the project is to face the challenge of the integration of renewable energies and improve the energy efficiency of public buildings in which, due to their field of activity, power quality and reliability have to be considered as fundamental aspects (Hospitals, Research Centres, Military Facilities and Transportation Stations). These public buildings have a high-energy consumption for electricity, heating and air conditioning. Therefore, the project proposes their conversion to net Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) through the integration of combined cooling, heating and power microgrids with active control of the neutral point and the use of hybrid energy storage systems. To achieve the project goal it will be developed two pilot experiences in the Spanish National Hydrogen Centre (CNH2), and the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG) in Portugal.

Expected Results (EN):

To share public investment in new technologies to reduce the high level of energy consumption of public buildings, contributing to the common objectives of the European Commission en 2030. - To increase the ability to influence public authorities for the correct decision making. - To overcome the regulatory barriers associated with the different energy policies of the different countries in SUDOE region, improving the replicability of the project results.

Expected Outputs (EN): 1) A new generation of high-efficiency/power quality of combined cooling, heating and power microgrids in zero energy public buildings with high power quality and continuity of service requirements. 2) Two pilot actions (Spain, Portugal). 3) Strategic Plans for the reconversion of Public Buildings.
