Description (EN):

The seismic protection of buildings, for the protection of people, structures and contents, is a common problem in the area. A synergy of skills is proposed between productive (4 companies involved) and research (2 research bodies involved) sectors to promote innovation in structural consolidation interventions (aimed at optimized use of resources) and spread acquired knowledge and experience to increase the know-how and competitiveness of construction workers. The project focuses on existing brick buildings, mostly exposed to seismic risk. A joint study on the intervention strategies in use is foreseen to allow the definition of innovative strategies, based on the targeted use of modern fiber-reinforced composite materials for the creation of curbs tops, floor ties, reinforced plasters to apply outside the building. An entire building in full scale, and other accessory test samples, will be designed, built and tested for the optimization of materials, application and efficacy for such intervention strategies.

La protezione sismica degli edifici, per la salvaguardia delle persone, delle strutture e dei contenuti, è un problema comune nell'area del progetto. Viene proposta una sinergia di competenze nel campo del settore produttivo (4 aziende coinvolte) e della ricerca (2 enti di ricerca coinvolti) per promuovere l’innovazione nell’ambito degli interventi di consolidamento strutturale (finalizzata all’uso ottimizzato delle risorse) e diffondere le conoscenze ed esperienze acquisite per aumentare il know-how e la competitività degli operatori nel settore dell'edilizia. Il progetto si focalizza sugli edifici esistenti in muratura, maggiormente esposti al rischio sismico; è previsto uno studio condiviso sulle strategie di intervento utilizzate sul mercato, alla luce dell’esperienza maturata dai partecipanti, che permetterà poi la definizione di strategie innovative, basate sull’impiego mirato dei moderni materiali compositi fibro-rinforzati per la realizzazione di cordoli sommitali, legature di piano, intonaci armati applicati all’esterno dell’edificio. Un intero edificio in scala reale, assieme ad altri campioni di prova accessori, saranno progettati, realizzati e testati per un’ottimizzazione di tali strategie di intervento a livello di materiali, di applicazione e di efficacia.

Potresna zaščita zgradb, varnosti ljudi in omejitev materialne škode so ključni izzivi na predlaganem programskem območju. Za soočenje s temi izzivi se predlaga vzpostavitev sinergije znanj in spretnosti partnerjev iz področja proizvodnega sektorja (vključena so štiri podjetja iz proizvodnega sektorja) in raziskovalne sfere (vključeni sta dve raziskovalni inštituciji). Cilj projekta je spodbujanje inovacij na področju potresne utrditve in sanacije stavb z upoštevanjem trajnostne rabe virov in razširjanje pridobljenega znanja za izboljšanje konkurenčnosti izvajalskih podjetij. Projekt se osredotoča na obstoječe zidane stavbe, ki so bolj potresno ranljive od drugih tipov stavb. Na podlagi dosedanjih izkušenj posameznih izvajalcev se načrtuje skupna študija obstoječih sanacijskih ukrepov in ukrepov za utrditev, ki bo podlaga za razvoj inovativnih strategij utrjevanja in saniranja stavb. Nove strategije bodo temeljile na uporabi sodobnih vlaknastih kompozitnih materialov za izvedbo horizontalnih zidnih vezi in armiranih ometov le po zunanjih straneh nosilnih zidov stavb. Za potrditev učinkovitosti predlaganih sanacijskih strategij, ki so boljše v smislu manjše uporabe materialov in nevšečnosti za stanovalce, bo načrtovana, izvedena in preizkušana testna stavba v naravnem merilu. Izvedli se bodo tudi testi posameznih konstrukcijskih elementov.

Achievements (EN):

The main results of the project were: Development of optimized intervention strategies for the seismic reinforcement of existing masonry buildings with modern fiber-reinforced materials. Publication of a report that critically analyzes reinforcement techniques in light of recent experimental tests carried out in the field of scientific research: Technical Report: Strengthening methods for masonry buildings Publication of a report which integrates the results of the experimental activity and numerical simulations: Technical Report - Part 1: Experimental Campaign and Numerical Simulations Technical Report - Part 2: Experimental Campaign and Numerical Simulations Dissemination of the knowledge acquired during the study to promote optimized interventions to reduce the seismic vulnerability of existing masonry buildings. In this context, interactive lessons were conducted with students from 2 Italian construction schools and 4 technical institutes, while in Slovenia, lessons were given to 1 professional school, 3 technical institutes and 2 degree courses. Finally, technical information seminars were held at 5 Professional Orders of Engineers, the Regional Civil Protection Headquarters, the ATER offices in Udine and Trieste and the University of Trieste in Italy, while in Slovenia the seminars were held at 8 companies in the sector and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia. In Italy, two scientific articles were written and presented at the National Earthquake Engineering Conference ANIDIS XIX (11/15 September 2022 – Turin), which were published in Procedia Structural Integrity; while in Slovenia a conference article was written and presented at the meeting of Slovenian masonry construction builders (zborovanje gradbenih konstruktorjev Slovenije, Rogaška Slatina, Oct. 2021). Furthermore, brochures and roll-up posters were prepared for the presentation of the CONSTRAIN project at the Interreg event which was held at the Hotel Savoia in Trieste on 21 September. 2022.

Expected Results (EN): The project overall objective is the definition, sharing and application of innovative strategies for seismic protection of existing masonry buildings, within Programme Investment Priority Program 1.b.

Il progetto ha quale obiettivo complessivo la definizione, la condivisione e l’applicazione di strategie innovative per la protezione sismica degli edifici esistenti in muratura. Queste finalità corrispondono pienamente all’Obiettivo specifico del Programma per la priorità d’investimento 1.b.

Expected Results (SL): Glavni splošni cilj projekta je izdelava, disimilacija in uporaba inovativnih strategij za seizmično zaščito obstoječih zidanih stavb. Ta cilj je skladen prednostno naložbo 1.b.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The project shall obtain the following results / outputs: · A shared study on intervention strategies used on the market, in light of the experience gained by the participants; · The definition of innovative seismic risk reduction strategies for masonry constructions through techniques with limited invasiveness and rapid execution; · A database classifying the various intervention solutions identified by previous experiences of project partners; in order to define and classify the characteristics of the identified techniques: design criteria, execution methods, effectiveness, invasiveness, timing, costs, limits of applicability; · An entire building in full scale built and tested for an optimization of these strategies, together with other accessory test samples; · An analytical calculation application; · Project reports and final dissemination material; Project results and outputs address the target groups, such as those identified in the Programme documents: - National, regional, local authorities, policy makers and public managers, in sight of resources saving and spending orientation. - Educational institutions and public training bodies, in order to develop new skills to be delivered to students; - Professional associations such as those of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors; - Companies and SMEs in the construction sector for new job opportunities; - Public bodies dealing with natural risks, energy, health and social inclusion. - Civil protection and organizations dealing with environmental risk management; - citizens living in areas at risk of natural disasters

Expected Outputs (IT):

· Uno studio condiviso sulle strategie di intervento utilizzate sul mercato, alla luce dell’esperienza maturata dai partecipanti; · La definizione di strategie innovative di riduzione del rischio sismico delle costruzioni in muratura con l’utilizzo tecniche a limitata invasività e di rapida esecuzione; · Un database che classificherà le varie soluzioni di intervento individuate raccogliendo i casi affrontati nelle esperienze pregresse i partner di progetto; ciò consentirà la definizione e la classificazione delle caratteristiche delle tecniche individuate: criteri di progettazione, modalità di esecuzione, efficacia, invasività, tempistiche, costi, limiti dell’applicabilità; · Un intero edificio in scala reale, assieme ad altri campioni di prova accessori, realizzati e testati per un’ottimizzazione di tali strategie; · un applicativo di calcolo analitico; · i report di progetto e il materiale divulgativo finale; I risultati e gli output del progetto soddisfano le esigenze dei destinatari di riferimento, potranno trarne vantaggio molti dei destinatari individuati nei documenti della programmazione: - Autorità nazionali, regionali, locali, responsabili politici e manager pubblici, per il risparmio di risorse e l’orientamento della spesa. - Istituti scolastici e Enti di formazione pubblici, per le nuove competenze da erogare agli studenti; - Associazioni professionali quali quelle degli Ingegneri, Architetti e Geometri; - Aziende e piccole medie imprese del settore edile per le prospettive di lavoro che si apriranno; - Enti pubblici che si occupano di rischi naturali, energia, salute e inclusione sociale. – Protezione civile e organizzazioni che si occupano di gestione dei rischi ambientali; – Soggetti che vivono in aree a rischio di disastri naturali.

Expected Outputs (SL):

Pri projektu bodo doseženi naslednji rezultati: - skupna študija partnerjev o obstoječih strategijah utrjevanja s primeri iz prakse; - razvoj inovativnih strategij za zmanjšanje potresnega tveganja zidanih stavb manjšimi posegi v nosilno konstrukcijo in hitro izvedbo; - podatkovna baza metod utrjevanja z razčlenitvijo njihovih lastnosti (postopki načrtovanja, metode izvedbe, učinkovitost, velikost posega v nosilno konstrukcijo, čas, stroški in omejitve uporabe); - Izvedba preiskave na zgradbi v naravnem merilu, s katero se bo, skupaj z drugimi dodatnimi preiskavami, razvilo in preverilo učinkotost inovativne metodologije; - razvoj analitičnih modelov in postopkov za projektiranje; - projektna poročila in gradivo za diseminacijo; Rezultati in izsledki projekta izpolnjujejo cilje projekta in bodo koristili mnogim prejemnikom, opredeljenim v programskih dokumentih: - nacionalnim, regionalnim in lokalnim oblastem ter nosilcem političnih odločitev (za boljše upravljanje javnih sredstev) -izobraževalnim in drugim ustanovam za usposabljanje, ki bodo lahko nova znanja vključila v svoje izobraževalne programe in jih predala svojim študentom; - strokovnim združenjem (gradbenih inženirjev in tehnikov ter arhitektov); - podjetjem in malim in srednje velikim podjetjem v gradbenem sektorju (s širjenjem njihovih znanj in novimi zaposlitvenimi možnostmi); - javnim organom, ki se ukvarjajo z naravnimi tveganji, energijo, zdravjem in socialno vključenostjo; - civilni zaščiti in organizacijam, ki se ukvarjajo z naravnimi nesrečami in drugimi okoljskimi tveganji; - ljudem, ki živijo na območjih, kjer obstaja nevarnost naravnih nesreč.
