Description (EN):

The cultural landscape in the programme area has great biodiversity. It hosts species important at EU level and protected species. Habitats are also ponds, dry stones walls, glaciers, swamps, etc., connected to the network of natural areas constituting green infrastructures. A common challenge is the loss of green infrastructures and related services in the ecosystem due to abandonment and proliferation of alien species. The main goal of the project is to promote cross-border cooperation to ensure a good state of conservation of species / habitats related to green infrastructures in the cross-border area. The effects are: green infrastructures connection, knowledge and best practices transfer, 17 pilot activities for the renewal of green infrastructures and organization of at least 25 events. The changes will be: better state of biodiversity, better connectivity of the ecosystem, risk prevention, stakeholders awareness raising. The beneficiaries will be green infrastructures managers, visitors, local communities, SMEs and other green infrastructures users. Cross-border cooperation is necessary to connect the green infrastructures network and for protection of species / habitats on both sides of the border.

Il paesaggio culturale nell'area del programma presenta una grande biodiversità. Habitat delle specie importanti per l'UE e altre specie protette sono, in aggiunta alle aree di conservazione della natura, anche stagni, muretti/pietre a secco, ghiacciai, paludi, ecc, che sono collegati alla rete di aree naturali che costituiscono l'infrastruttura verde (ZI). Una sfida comune è la perdita di ZI e dei relativi servizi per l'ecosistema a causa dell'abbandono dell'uso e del proliferare delle specie alloctoni. L'obiettivo principale del progetto è promuovere la cooperazione transfrontaliera al fine di garantire un buono stato di conservazione delle specie/habitat legati allo ZI nel panorama transfrontaliero di IT-SI. Gli effetti sono: collegamento ZI, trasferimento di conoscenze e buone prassi, 17 attività pilota per il rinnovo delle ZI e l'organizzazione di almeno 25 eventi. I cambiamenti saranno: migliore stato della biodiversità, migliore connettività dell'ecosistema, prevenzione dei rischi, migliore consapevolezza delle parti interessate. I beneficiari saranno i gestori ZI, i visitatori, le comunità locali, le PMI ed altri utenti ZI. La cooperazione transfrontaliera è necessaria per collegare la rete ZI e la protezione di specie/habitat su entrambi i lati del confine.

Kulturna pokrajina v programskem območju je območje velike biotske raznovrstnosti. Habitati EU pomembnih in drugih zavarovanih vrst so poleg območij ohranjanja narave (Natura,ZO,MAB,EPO…) še kali, suhi zidovi, ledenice, močvirja, gramoznice, mlinščice, itd, ki so povezani v mrežo (pol-)naravnih območij oz. t.i. zeleno infrastrukturo (ZI). Skupen izziv predstavlja izguba ZI in povezanih ekosistemskih storitev zaradi opuščanja rabe in tujerodnih vrst. Glavni cilj projekta je spodbujati čezmejno sodelovanje za zagotovitev dobrega stanja ohranjenosti vrst/habitatov, vezanih na ZI v IT-SI kulturni krajini. Učinki so: povezovanje ZI, prenos znanj in dobrih praks, razvoj orodij za upravljanje, 17 pilotnih aktivnosti za obnovo ZI in izvedba vsaj 25 dogodkov. Spremembe bodo: boljše stanje biotske raznovrstnosti, boljša povezanost ekosistemov, preprečevanje tveganj, boljša ozaveščenost deležnikov. Koristi bodo imeli upravljalci ZI, obiskovalci, lokalne skupnosti, MSP, NGO, drugi uporabniki ZI. Čezmejno sodelovanje je potrebno za povezovanje mreže ZI in varstvo vrst/habitatov na obeh straneh meje. Novost bo v skupnem mehanizmu za razvoj ZI, vključno s prenosom obstoječih praks, participativnim vključevanjem deležnikov (npr.fokusne skupine, LivingLab), uporabi novih materialov za obnovo ZI.

Expected Results (EN):

The main project objective is to promote cross-border cooperation in order to guarantee a good state of conservation of protected species linked to green infrastructure in the cross-border IT-SI area. The project intends to bring to the joint development of green infrastructures in favor of biodiversity and citizens by integrating the concept of services for the ecosystem and the participation of interested parties in integrated management.

L'obiettivo principale del progetto è promuovere la cooperazione transfrontaliera al fine di garantire un buono stato di conservazione delle specie protette legate all'infrastruttura verde nel panorama transfrontaliero di IT-SI. Si vuole stabilire un meccanismo innovativo per lo sviluppo congiunto delle infrastrutture verdi a favore della biodiversità e della popolazione integrando il concetto dei servizi per l’ecosistema e la partecipazione delle parti interessate alla gestione integrata.

Glavni cilj projekta je spodbujati čezmejno sodelovanje za zagotovitev dobrega stanja ohranjenosti EU pomembnih in drugih zavarovanih vrst, vezanih na zeleno infrastrukturo v čezmejni IT-SI kulturni krajini. Vzpostaviti želimo inovativen mehanizem za skupen razvoj zelene infrastrukture ter doseganje gospodarskih potencialov območja v korist biotske raznovrstnosti in prebivalcev preko vključevanja koncepta ekosistemskih storitev in participativnega sodelovanja deležnikov v celostno upravljanje.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The main project expected result is to strengthen ecosystem management and biodiversity restoration through restoration of green infrastructure and of ecosystem services in the cross-border IT-SI area. This is associated with the result SC3.2. and will be achieved through the following intermediate results: - guidelines and joint plans for an integrated strategy of biodiversity conservation and development in sight of a better management of green infrastructure in the cross-border area and in pilot areas; - 17 cross-border pilot actions for the recovery, management and enhancement of habitats such as small wetlands, ponds, glaciers, gravel, etc. where many species of EU importance live and where many ecosystem services are provided in favor of nature and people; - joint activities to improve crossborder awareness raising of species, habitats and green infrastructures, for example the identification of good practices for biodiversity safeguard / restoration of natural landscape; focus groups for the participatory involvement of interested parties (e.g. managers, owners, inhabitants, visitors) and establishment of a working groups within the existing cross-border consortium for the restoration of natural elements. Activities will be carried out on the basis of an analysis of pressures and threats caused by abandonment of traditional land use and consequent loss of ecosystem services, as well as an analysis on the negative impact of invasive species. Activities will involve the academic sector (e.g. University of Littoral, University of Udine, Padua, Bologna and Ljubljana) and cross-border experts responsible for education and research in the field of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Expected Outputs (IT):

Il principale risultato del progetto sarà rafforzare la gestione degli ecosistemi e il ripristino della biodiversità attraverso il ripristino delle infrastrutture verdi (ZI) e dei servizi per l’ecosistema (ESS) nel panorama transfrontaliero di IT-SI. Questo è completamente associato al risultato di SC3.2. e sarà raggiunto attraverso i seguenti risultati intermedi: - basi di partenza, linee guida e piani comuni per una strategia integrata per la conservazione e lo sviluppo della biodiversità per una migliore gestione delle ZI nel panorama transfrontaliero di IT-SI e nelle aree pilota; - 17 azioni pilota transfrontaliere per il recupero, gestione e valorizzazione di elementi ZI (ad esempio piccole zone umide, stagni, ghiacciai, ghiaia, ecc.), che rappresentano l’habitat delle specie importanti per UE e forniscono ESS a favore della natura e delle persone; - realizzazione di attività congiunte per migliorare la conoscenza transfrontaliera della materia e la valorizzazione di specie, habitat ed elementi di ZI su entrambi i lati del confine, ad esempio l'individuazione di buone prassi della protezione/ripristino della biodiversità del paesaggio naturale, conducendo focus group per il coinvolgimento partecipativo delle parti interessate (ad es. gestori, proprietari, abitanti, visitatori) e l'istituzione di un gruppo di lavoro all'interno del consorzio transfrontaliero esistente per il ripristino degli elementi naturali. Le attività saranno svolte in base all'analisi delle pressioni e minacce, causate dall'abbandono dell’uso tradizionale del suolo e la conseguente perdita del ESS, e un'analisi nel campo dell'impatto negativo di specie invasive. Le attività coinvolgeranno il settore accademico (ad es. Università del Litorale, Università degli Studi di Udine, Padova, Bologna e Lubiana) ed esperti transfrontalieri responsabili per l'istruzione e la ricerca nel campo della biodiversità e degli ecosistemi.

Expected Outputs (SL):

Glavni rezultat projekta bo okrepljeno upravljanje ekosistemov in obnova biotske raznovrstnosti prek obnove zelenih infrastruktur (ZI) in ekosistemskih storitev (ESS) v čezmejni IT-SI kulturni krajini, kar se v celoti povezuje z rezultatom SC3.2. Le-ta bo dosežen prek vmesnih rezultatov: - pripravljena izhodišča, skupne smernice in načrti za celostno strategijo ohranjanja in razvoja biotske raznovrstnosti za boljše upravljanje ZI v čezmejni IT-SI kulturni krajini oz. na pilotnih območjih; - 17 izvedenih čezmejnih pilotnih aktivnosti za obnovo elementov ZI (npr. malih močvirij in kalov, suhih zidov, ledenic, mlinščic, gramoznic, itd.), ki predstavljajo habitate EU pomembnih vrst in zagotavljajo ESS v korist naravi in prebivalcem; - izvedba skupnih aktivnosti za okrepitev čezmejnega poznavanja stanja in valorizacije vrst, habitatov in elementov ZI na obeh straneh meje kot so identifikacija primerov dobrih praks varstva/obnove biotske raznovrstnosti v kulturni krajini, izvedba fokusnih skupin za participativno vključevanje deležnikov (npr. upravljalcev, lastnikov, prebivalcev, obiskovalcev) in vzpostavitve delovne skupine v okviru obstoječega čezmejnega konzorcija za gradnjo suhih zidov. Dejavnosti bodo temeljile na opravljeni analizi pritiskov in groženj, ki vodijo v opuščanje tradicionalne rabe kulturne krajine in posledično izgubo ESS, ter na analizi obsega negativnega vpliva tujerodnih vrst. V dejavnosti bo vključen akademski sektor (npr. Univerza na Primorskem, Univerze v Udinah, Padovi, Bologni, Carinzia in Ljubljani) in čezmejni strokovnjaki, pristojni za izobraževanje in raziskovanje na področju varstva biotske raznovrstnosti in ekosistemov (npr. ZRSVN). Projekt bo pripomogel tudi h krepitvi kapacitet vzgojno izobraževalne vertikale za spodbujanje trajnostnega in odgovornega zavedanja in vedenja, zlasti znotraj zavarovanih in naravovarstveno pomembnih območij (npr. izvedenih vsaj 10 dogodkov/prireditev za širšo javnost in vsaj 15 izobraževalnih dogodkov).
