SMS-CBA focuses on the specialised and smart promotion of the CB area as an integrated destination via an up-to-date, professionally designed and executed marketing plan and campaign. The project follows state of the art processes of destination marketing: defining the destination (a marketable experience), creating appropriate conditions for marketing it to individual tourists and travel agencies, and facilitating suitable B2B communication. Past ICT solutions (portal, apps etc.) will be upgraded to meet the needs of modern tourists before, during and after their visit. New features and services (tour guide, e-booking, e-ticketing) will be introduced to facilitate navigation and communication between visitors and tourism businesses. All new applications will be linked to beneficiaries’ websites and tourism portals, to avoid confusion and fragmentation of tourism information. Apart from the innovative approach on destination marketing and management, the project brings together public, private and research community drivers in order to achieve optimum results and sustainability. The Project’s objective will be enhanced by formulating permanent structures such as a CB Tourism Observatory and a Task Force (exchange of know-how, on-going evaluation studies, tourism resources library) and area-wide cultural events and targeted conferences. The project encourages the involvement of young volunteers in the development and the feeding of the new e-tools, and they will be used as multipliers in terms of disseminating the experience of targeted guided tours.

Expected Results (EN):

The idea behind the project is that specialized expertise of the beneficiaries of the project, especially that of SETE may provide the necessary added value through all those targeted interventions that will maximise the visibility of the integrated area globally. Targeted marketing campaign will optimize the area’s promotion, which will be enhanced via B2B meetings directly engaging tourist agents and officials. The mobilisation of travel agents and hoteliers in the CB area assisted by targeted up-to-date marketing campaign and ICT tools are expected to directly affect the tourist flow in the CB area, especially in cultural and natural sites. Above mentioned activities are expected to raise the main result indicator of the Programme which is measured by the increase of annual tourist overnight stays at accommodation establishments. The presence of tourism businesses bodies in the partner scheme, especially those of HAT, RRTA and SETE will assist the Programme in estimating realistically the relevant figures. Furthermore, the project provides for improvement of conditions for entrepreneurship through the involvement of business organizations and entities as key partners and stakeholders of the activities-i.e. they will receive and be trained to use the e-tools of the project, participate in a number of events for e-tourism. In addition, they will be able to increase the quality of their services through dissemination of reliable tourist information to clients. Their needs and proposals will be reflected in the process of definition of touristic products. The project will generate significant tangible impact on the target groups, since the results will be visible and widely accessible (web-based portal, promotional materials, movies, promotion campaign, formulated touristic products). The impact will be broad and on an international scale.
