The main objective of this project is to preserve and celebrate authentic heritage offered by the two regions through smart and innovative tourism solutions meant to bring the two regions (Korce and Kastoria) closer together. These two regions that have so much in common especially in terms of the authentic experiences that they have the capacity to offer are going to be working together to create an AuthentiKK tourism product (Single AuthentiKK Destination) that will encourage the visitors coming to each individual region to explore its "sister" region and to get a taste of two regions that are unique in some ways but also similar in others.

Expected Results (EN):

The tourist traffic in the selected cultural and natural heritage monuments will increase due to better accessibility as a result of repair works but also implementation of innovative solutions (especially tailore to younger public) as well as the cultural activities such as the Music Festival and the Paragliding Competition that are expected to take place every year. The number of visitors in Korce sites will increase by 100% and will be measured by the number of app downloads and participants of the Paragliding Competition. The number of visitors in Kastoria sites will increase by 25% and will be similarly measured through app downloads and supplemented by official statistics of museum visits (for pre-historic settlement). The diversification of the tourist offering at the impacted sites will raise the length of stay (overnight stays) in each location. A number of app downloads is set to reach 4000 in total in two years. With the overall number of visitors increasing, the local economies will be provided with the much-needed boost to develop further. The project will also deliver a number of intangible benefits that will last beyond the course of the project and the immediate aftermath. An increased interest on the part of tourists will most certainly allow the younger generation to gain a better understanding and deeper appreciation for their heritage. By working together on the issues that the two communities face and by utilizing the management plans developed during the project, heritage preservation and promotion is certain to become a trend and a model to follow and lead to the further development. CB region will see economic growth as a result of intervention carried out in the framework of the AuthentiKK CB project and will be able to become an example to follow for other communities.

Expected Outputs (EN):

This project aims at bringing the two regions (Korce and Kastoria) closer together through development of a new and attractive joint tourist offer - an AuthentiKK tourist product (Single AuthentiKK Destination) that would not only increase the incoming traffic of visitors to each area individually (and extend their stay in each area) but also create opportunities for an exchange of visitor traffic in the whole cross-border region boosting the local economy in the process. The ongoing activities to promote AuthentiKK Destination will be based on the Comprehensive Promotion and Communications Plan delivered during the course of the project. This newly developed tourism product will be supported by 4 activities carried out during the project's lifetime, each of them individually contirbuting to the overall objective of preserving cultural and natural resources as a prerequisite for tourism development of the cross border area: 1) Delivering a Comprehensive Management Tourism Plan and Sustainability Strategy Documents for the selected sites; 2) Joint cross-border cultural activities - a Music Festival and a Paragliding Competition Event; 3) Small scale improvement and repair works as well as marking works in the areas around National Park "Bredhi I Drenoves" and along the hiking paths as well as the Paragliding point located at Morava Mountain in Korce region (including the building of a new self-service Touchscreen tourist info point) and preservation and repair works at the "Mountain Theater" and the pre-historic settlement "Limneos Ikismos" in Kastoria; 4) innovative technological solutions - development of a mobile apps for Kastoria area and a National Park "Bredhi i Drenoves" area, implementation of bi-lingual audio-guided experience for selected attraction points and the use of 3D augmented reality tools for the National Park "Bredhi i Drenoves" and "Limneos Ikismos settlement"
