Description (EN):

This project consists of developing and testing in real-life a network of sensors for measuring and monitoring forest ecosystems whose costs will allow their unprecedented use on a large scale by forest practitioners. This network of sensors will provide forest managers and forest technical operators with new information, in terms of the quantity, accuracy and level of detail of the data collected, on four topics in particular: tree diameter growth, ecology of natural rejuvenation, commitment of machines according to the portability of forest soils, management of wood piles energy according to their moisture content. This information will enable foresters to refine their perception and understanding of forest ecosystems and their natural dynamics in order to optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of forestry practices. It will also provide them with a solid foundation for the engagement of machinery and for the management of wood stocks in the forest. This is part of the Internet of Things (IoT) movement and is a crucial further step towards the forest 4.0, by analogy to industry 4. 0.

Ce projet consiste à développer et tester en situation réelle un réseau de capteurs de mesure et de suivi des écosystèmes forestiers dont les coûts permettront leur usage inédit à grande échelle par les praticiens forestiers. Ce réseau de capteurs fournira aux gestionnaires et aux exploitants techniques forestiers une information nouvelle, par la quantité, la précision et le niveau de détail des données collectées, sur quatre thématiques en particulier : croissance en diamètre des arbres, écologie du rajeunissement naturel, engagement des machines selon la portabilité des sols forestiers, gestion des piles de bois énergie selon leur taux d’humidité. Cette information permettra aux forestiers d’affiner leur perception et leur compréhension des écosystèmes forestiers et de leur dynamique naturelle en vue d’optimiser l’efficacité et l’efficience des pratiques sylvicoles. Elle leur permettra aussi de disposer de bases solides pour l’engagement des machines et pour la gestion des stocks de bois en forêt. Cette démarche s’inscrit dans le mouvement de l’internet des objets (IoT, Internet of Things) et constitue un pas supplémentaire crucial vers la forêt 4.0, par analogie à l’industrie 4. 0.
