Description (EN):

MIMOSA project, with the aim of improving the offer of multimodal sustainable passengers transport solutions and services, promotes a new cross-border approach for passenger mobility in the Programme area. The project partnership, composed by the main actors at regional and national level in both countries, is determined to jointly tackle the common challenge of increasing multimodality, reducing the impact of transport on environment. Having a result-oriented approach, in developing visible outputs, ranging from multimodal solutions to innovative and smart tools and technologies, MIMOSA is focused to change the current situation affecting the cross-border and regional connections, making more accessible, low-carbon and sustainable the mobility of passengers in the whole Programme area. A cross-border cooperation approach is necessary for solving the common problems of a predominant road traffic and of a low level of connectivity between the two countries, for providing to citizens and tourists a wider offer of mobility sustainable options, based on a shared knowledge on transport demand and passengers habits and needs, which makes the project original in comparison to previous initiatives. Thus contributing in achieving the medium-term result of passengers behavioural changes.

Achievements (EN):

We developed a WebGIS application that shows all the activities and project partners: To better understand which institutions cooperated in tackling transport challenges, and to show all the activities that were done by them, we created a visual tool that facilitates this, by integrating it all in a map. The Vademecum on intermodality between bicycle and collective transport: an important result of Mimosa Project published We bring important results to improve and diversify the cross-border passenger transport supply throughout the entire programme area. Within the overall framework of the project activities, the Vademecum (guidelines) of international best practices of infrastructures and services for integrated bicycle and other transport networks are drawn up. The Vademecum deals with the very important issue of combined transport between bicycle and other means of transport since it is essential for daily travels and tourism. Through intermodality with bicycles, it is possible to reach distant places or cover difficult and demanding tours, in a short time and at low cost, with benefits for the environment. Modal integration between bicycle and other transport networks is crucial for path continuity and territorial accessibility. Integrated transport and cycle accessibility of junctions must become, more and more, a central element of local, regional and national transport system. The Vademecum provides appropriate directions to carry out new solutions (infrastructural, technical, technological and immaterial) and improve those already existing about three matters: Bike transport on board of the various means of transport (plane, ferryboat/ship, train, bus); Cycle accessibility of intermodal exchange junctions (airports, harbors, railway stations , terminal and bus stops); Facilities for cyclists, including: bike parking, bike rental, bike sharing stations, bike repair shop, shower/dressing room, bike connections, signage and information systems (web, app, news). The Vademecum, together with the multimodal solutions and innovative and intelligent tools implemented within the MIMOSA project, aims to improve accessibility, support low-carbon transport modes and contribute to the reduction of the environmental impact generated by transport. LIRA presented a test mobile app Lika Drive to improve traffic connectivity in rural parts of the Lika-Senj County. The availability of health and social services represents one of the biggest challenges for residents in rural parts of Lika-Senj County. This is why, through the MIMOSA project, the mobile application Lika Drive was developed, which quickly and easily connects passenger transport and interested users. This mobile application was designed and created by the Public Institution Development Agency of Lika-Senj County - LIRA, and in the final stage it was presented at a conference for media and stakeholders. The app, other pilot activities and news of public transport in the county were presented by Ana Rukavina – Stilinović, head of the Administrative Department for Economy, Maritime Affairs and Transport of Lika-Senj County, Andrija Brkljačić - director of LIRA, and external associate of the MIMOSA project.

Expected Results (EN):

The main project expected results are linked to the set of strategic theme expected outputs in three main ways: 1. The improved cooperation among relevant actors of Italy and Croatia towards a sustainable cross-border and multimodal passengers transport between the two countries; 2. The improved and up-to-dated knowledge of the demand for transport services at local, regional and CB level; 3. The improved offer of information and services. That will be achieved through the setting up of a permanent cross-border Network to foster a stable dialogue at CB level, which will make stronger the cooperation among informed stakeholders, with a better capacity to plan the next steps, and through a better awareness on habits and environmental impacts and on transport services. The applications, smart solutions and services adopted and tested will be used to push for a change in passengers' behaviour through awareness and sensitization programme, and related sensitization/behaviour campaigns, at regional and at cross-border level. MIMOSA will also make available contributions to the relevant local, regional, national and EU policies, supporting macro-regional strategies (e.g. EUSAIR, EUSALP). Project results contribute to Programme's result 4.1 through their CBC actions aimed at promoting multimodality and an increased use of more sustainable transport modes, even if not focusing on freight but on passengers transport.

Expected Outputs (EN):

MIMOSA outputs and related results are deployed for the improvement of cross-border sustainable mobility between Italy and Croatia, starting from the previous projects' results and bringing forward the lessons learnt by testing new solutions and tools, increasing passengers' options and facilities. This is made possible thanks to the involved partners with financial, political and administrative capacity to ensure continuity, representing the main actors in each territory and covering, with their competences, almost the entire Programme area. Pilot actions are not durable per se if not within a planned strategic approach that MIMOSA applies, involving the necessary CB stakeholders, ensuring that piloted solutions meet passengers' needs.
