Cycling tourism is increasing across the world, with an increasing number of adventure tourists participating on both road and mountain biking tours and in cycling events. According to the European Cyclists Federation, cycling brings in over EUR 44 billion annually to the continent, resulting from 2.3 billion cycling trips with a tourism value. Sakarya will host the 2020 World Mountain Bike Cup (Organized by UCI-The Union Cycliste Internationale, 26-27 September 2020, Sakarya/TURKEY). This organization will give a great impetus to our project in terms of cycling tourism and will enable partners in our project to promote their locations in cross-border regions of the Black Sea with EU hinterland and around the world. Our Project Aim: Improving the welfare of the people in the Black Sea basin regions through sustainable growth and joint environmental protection by developing touristic/cultural sectors in cross-border countries. Our Project Specific Objectives: 1. Promoting Business and Entrepreneurship With Joint Digital Platform 2. Establishing Cycle Routes for Cycling Tourism 3. Organizing Joint Various Events With Concept of CYCLE-FRIENDLY SERVICES Our Project Main Outputs: O.T 1.1 - Mapped and tagged cycle routes. O.T 2.1 - Organized various events (enterpreneural/sectoral/skill/awareness training/mentoring activities, establishment of cycling demonstration room) for enterpreneurs/businesses in cycling tourism/handicrafts with concept of CYCLE-FRIENDLY SERVICES. * Trained persons in applied entrepreneurship trainings for all locations (475 persons in total). * Mentored persons in applied entrepreneural mentoring activities for all locations (60 persons in total) by preparing their business plans. * Trained persons in 3rd Sectoral Training Program (TRAINING for CYCLE-FRIENDLY SERVICES) (275 persons in total). * Mentored persons in sectoral mentoring activities (25 persons in total) by preparing their strategic business plans. O.T 3.2 - Developed a joint digital platform. O.T 3.2 - Developed a Bike Navigator Application for cyclists/interest groups. O.T 4.1 - Documented a Joint Touristic and Cultural Strategical Plan 2022 – 2027 (including Established Black Sea Basin Tourism Platform). Six related work packages (1 management, 4 implementations, 1 communication) were defined. The duration of our project will last for a total of 30 months. Each of our partners will take part in all the activities. Relevancy with Priority 1.1 and Expected Result 1.1: Priority will be given to the priority of developing and strengthening business opportunities in cycle tourism and local cultural values. Project partners’ locations have those tourist/visitor numbers at local, national and international: Sakarya-492.375; Shumen-141.484; Galati-65.576; Odessa-2.500.000; and Batumi-497. 000.

Expected Results (EN): R 1.1 Strength of cross-border business opportunities in the tourism and cultural sectors

Expected Outputs (EN):

Mapping and tagging cycle routes to be determined in the cities of our project partners will be seen on these routes with potential tourism and cultural values of each of our partners. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to develop fast-growing cycling tourism in their own cities and thus attract more domestic and foreign tourists. Most importantly, they will be able to take a complementary advantage of cycle routes in the EU hinterland into their own cities by contributing to the European Cycle Network in the EuroVelo Project with these cycle routes. With our project, all the target groups of our project, especially hotels, accommodations, restaurants and tourism agencies operating in the tourism sector, will gain awareness on cycling tourism. At the same time, people in the field of handicrafts (especially women) from cultural values will gain entrepreneurial skills. Those who take mentoring in this area and who prepare a successful business plan are also expected to establish their own business. Also, with the sectoral trainings and mentoring activities, existing tourism enterprises (such as hotels, tourism agencies, accommodation facilities) will learn the concept of CYCLE-FRIENDLY SERVICES and will have the opportunity to practice in their own businesses. In particular, in the fast growing cycling tourism sector, new entrepreneurs (who takes mentoring service) will have the opportunity to implement their business ideas. In the joint digital platform that we will develop, especially cycle routes, local products and handicraft products will be introduced. The bike navigator application that we will develop at the same time will be used free of charge to everyone here. This will serve as a virtual interface between the partners of our project and the target groups of our project. At the same time, business and business opportunities in our partner countries will become opportunity for businesses and new entrepreneurs to access.
