Description (EN):

The project is aimed to improve safety and quality of life by ensuring access to fresh water resources in the Latvia–Russia cross-border region. The project involves 2 partners- Municipal enterprise of the Pskov city “Gorvodokanal” and Latgale Planning Region (Project Partner 2). As associated partner Pskov Region State Committee on Economic Development and Investment Policy. Project partnership has been built on the basis of well-developed cooperation among Latgale Region and Pskov Region and top stakeholders. Project activities directly contribute to solutions for challenges of environment and public health. Both partners cooperate in order to promote sustainable use of natural resources and environmental protection. Target groups of the project is: 40 (20 participants in LV, 20 participants in RU) participants of training on the issues of water supply and waste water issues; 6 participants of exchange of experience trip to Latgale (employees from water treatment municipal enterprises of border related municipalities from the Pskov region); 5 participants of exchange of experience trip to Pskov (employees from water treatment municipal enterprises border related municipalities from Latgale region); population of the cities of the information campaign (Pskov, 205.000 people, Latgale region 275 983 people). Project has been submitted only to the Latvia – Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 and other financial instruments from EU are not used.

Expected Results (EN):

During the activities planned under this activity package representatives from 13 organizations (at least 51 representative) must be trained in water treatment technologies as well as at least 48% of participants of awareness raising activities are ready to change their rather wasteful habit regarding the water.

Expected Outputs (EN): Latgale Planning region, authorities of municipalitetes and representatives from water treatment municipal enterprises border related municipalities from the Pskov region (Pechory, Palkino, Pytalovo, Krasnogorodsk, Sebezh, Pskov).
