Baltic Explorers boosts game industry companies from Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia to reach new markets from Asia and US. Overall objective is to strengthen the Baltic Explorers game industry cluster in Baltic Sea Region and support the cluster companies to reach five to seven new publisher, investor or partner deals from the Asia or US markets. These type of deals will raise the success opportunities of the game companies remarkably in game industry markets. Partner regions in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia are an active game company clusters which have also a great potential to the global markets even they are not among the most lucrative or biggest game industry hubs in their own country. By supporting and preparing them well in Baltic Explorer’s cross border program they have all chances to reach new markets from Asia or US and make new game industry success stories from the Baltic Sea Region. Cross border Baltic Explorers Hub makes a strong cluster which helps all cluster companies strengthen their capacity, quality and attractiviness among publishers, investors and global partners. By support of the project Baltic Explorers takes companies to four to six game industry B2B events in Asia and US to meet publishers, investors and potential partners.

Achievements (EN):

Baltic Explorers exploring new markets for Central Baltic games industry. The overall objective of the project was to strengthen the game industry cluster in Baltic Sea Region and support the cluster to reach new publisher, investor or partner deals from the Asia or USA markets. Project achieved 7 publisher deals, 6 investment deals, 4 project deals, 2 newly established and registered (Ltd.) companies, 5 AWARD-winning game achievements. Project has improved awareness about the Central Baltic Region Game Industry Ecosystem. They created the cluster community (Be BIG community) where game companies from Estonia, Latvia, Sweden and Finland can introduce themselves, support each other and get connected to cooperate in the future. It is now a well-known platform among key players in the industry in which game companies can share their experience and achievements.

Expected Outputs (EN):

Main results of the project are 5-7 deals from new markets to participating companies. In game industry you can't sell your product to the new countries country by country. Most of the distribution channels are global and you are immediately on the global markets when publishing the games on Playstore, Appstore or Steam. But getting downloads on global channels you need a huge budget for marketing or a publisher deals. Publishers take responsibility of the their product's marketing, including market research and all aspects of advertising with massive budgets. Publishers, investments or deals with partners like Sony, Microsoft, Amazon etc. are real springboards for success in global markets. Therefore we are focusing strongly to them. Target markets, US and Asia, have been chosen based on the yearly rates of game industry markets. Asia-Pacific area (47%) and North America (26%) produces almost 75% of the game industry revenues globally each year and are still growing. Asian and US markets differs quite a lot with distribution channels, biggest players in the business, publishers and even most popular game genres. This require a specific support when focusing to the certain market.
