Description (EN):

To better understand the telluric hazards (volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides) of the Caribbean zone, the Martinique Seismological and Volcanological Observatory is developing a PREST platform for regional research in geosciences with IRD, CNRS, ENS, the Office of Mines and Energy and the University of Haiti with CENAIS in Cuba. This project aims to improve emergency prevention, management and response actions with the best specialists in the field. Overall objective: Position the region at the best technological, collaborative, and international scientific level concerning hazards and telluric risks (seismic, volcanic and tsunami). “Defining at regional level the necessary instrumentation for the realisation of an integrated Earth/Sea geophysical observatory in the West Indies in coordination with regional and metropolitan partners”.

Pour mieux comprendre les aléas telluriques (volcans, séismes, tsunamis, glissements de terrain) de la zone caribéenne, l’Observatoire Sismologique et Volcanologique de la Martinique développe une plateforme PREST de recherche régionale en géosciences avec l’IRD, le CNRS, l’ENS, le bureau de Mines et de l’Energie et l’Université d’Haïti avec le CENAIS à Cuba. Ce projet vise à améliorer les actions de prévention, de gestion et de réponse à l'urgence avec les meilleurs spécialistes du domaine. Objectif global: Positionner la région au meilleur niveau technologique, collaboratif, et scientifique international concernant les aléas et risques telluriques (sismiques, volcaniques et tsunamis). "Définir à l’échelle régionale l’instrumentation nécessaire à la réalisation d’un observatoire géophysique intégré Terre/Mer dans les Antilles en coordination avec les partenaires régionaux et métropolitains".
