DANUBE cultural heritage in the cities is rich and diverse, but under pressure due to lack common policies, know-how and resources) All the partners are confronted with the same challenges: how to incorporate and present the archaeological heritage into the contemporary social environment, how to incorporate in the urban parts of the cities,how to integrate preserved remains within buildings and areas of the towns for presentations (example: integration of sustainable mobility), how to provide the sustainable development and how to achieve the economic impact and visibility beyond the local level (cultural tourism). The project will improve and intensify cooperation among relevant actors in DTP in order to preserve, support and valorize cultural heritage through archaeological parks as products in cities for development of archeotourism.The project paves way for preparation of concrete plans, trainings, tools for preservation and presentation and concreate small pilots, for improving effectiveness of heritage sites management in support implementation of new initiatives in tourism (archaeotourism). All results are representative for other Danube regions and relevant for the entire area. Having said this, the consortium convenes in understanding archaeological parks as are a tool through which the local communities can manage, control and protect their heritage resources. Moreover, they are a good to connect the local culture, which represents an important period of human history, with the global culture. In order for our heritage values to remain preserved and be accessible to contemporary and future generations, it is imperative to develop and advance an integrated planning concept. The project will provide a understanding of archaeological parks as an integrated concept between archaeological heritage/urban development of the city and cultural tourism. The partnership consist of 15 actors (+7 ASP) from 11 DTP countries.

Achievements (EN):

Already in the first project period, important results were achieved, with the preparation of the Baseline Study, covering various subjects, from international conventions and national legislature to specific conditions of partners’ chosen archaeological sites, but also crucial definitions, as that one concerning archaeological parks, which are also the main focus of the ArcheoDanube project. Partners were informed how to best involve stakeholders in the management of their archaeological sites and local stakeholder teams were created. At the same time partners learned how to plan enhancement and management activities for their sites within Local Archeo Plans. A template and a Guidebook was created, as well as a training course performed. Partners then also prepared their Local Archeo Plans, planning in detail pilot actions and other activities to be implemented in the following years. Pilot actions were performed at the 10 pilot sites: they were documented by video and evaluated by other partners. A thorough exchange of experiences convoyed these activities.e partnership has been working on policy proposals. Guidebook is a practical tool that provides step-by-step instruc- tions for municipalities to design and implement their own Local Archeo Plan (LAP) as a key condition for good planning and effective cultural management of the local archaeological heritage. to facilitate a wider adoption of the proposed methodology by local authorities and other interested stakeholders. Good practice catalogue: the aim was to gather information about good practices of archaeological sites where archaeological tourism can be regarded as a success story. The information gathering focused likewise on success factors as well as impacts(including impact indicators). After critical review 17 examplex were included in this report. ArcheoTales is intended as a digital tool to facilitate the playful transfer of knowledge about archaeological sites. We are bringing archaeological cultural heritage from the earth to the smartphone. The app makes it possible to leave classic exhibition spaces and formats behind. ArcheoTales provides context in an innovative way exactly where a classic guide cannot offer the right explanation. E-handbook is a practical tool that provides instructions for municipalities, other public authorities, museums and other institutions involved in heritage protection, local communities, developers, tourism entities, non- profit organisations and other interested stakeholders to manage archaeological parks in urban settings and to develop them into sustainable tourism products. Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow Tool will assist you in choosing the best solution for displaying archaeological remains. The tool is suitable for anyone who wants to establish an archaeological park or wants, however, to display archaeological remains in urban or rural areas. Based on your answers the tool will suggest the most suitable solutions for presenting your archaeological heritage. The aim of the ARCHEODANUBE webspace is to provide the archaeological community with an information-rich portal where key players can share their different good practices and strategies and create a dialogue on the topic. The website includes a presentation of useful tools for archaeologists, as well as a mapping tool to make presentations and demonstrations more colourful and interesting. Expected Results (EN): Intensity of cooperation of key actors in the programme area in order to strengthen sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and resources (survey based composite indicator)

Expected Outputs (EN):

ARCHEODANUBE will improve and intensify cooperation of interdisciplinary stakeholders in Danube region in order to preserve, support and valorize cultural heritage through archaeological parks as products to increase archeotourism. The project will provide a understanding of archaeological parks as an integrated concept between archaeological heritage/urban development of the city and tourism. This main results respond to the needs of all key actors in region as problems concerning the techniques of preservation of the monuments, integration if this heritage in the urban development of the city, the effective management plans of the parks and the interaction with the local communities and with the sustainable tourism (how to present). The project will provide: -Trainings (1) and transnational Thinktank workshops (10) helping stakeholders to valorize cultural heritage within archaeological parks; -Local Archeo plans (10) will be develop for the effective incorporation of archaeological sites in the planning process of cities. -Implementation of pilot projects (10) on the local level to demonstrate the transnational developed methods. -E-handbook (1) for the management of enhancement projects on urban archaeological sites and integration with sustainable tourism. -Innovative tools (ICT tool- ArcheoTales and tool Preservation vs Presentation). From the tools (2) will benefit cities, museums, developers, tourist operators,.. -Strategy for promoting and increasing visibility of the parks and the cities along the DANUBE as a transnational tourism product- Strategy for promotion of archaeotourism (1). -Develop network of the archaeological parks for the use of better promotion for increasing visibility. All this will strengthen transnational and multilevel key actors in order to provide the viable frameworks/models/solutions for more effective, wider and deeper transnational cooperation across the region for sustainable use of cultural heritage.
