The Carpathians and the Alps are biodiversity hotspots and are among the most important natural areas in Europe. The combination of these natural areas, the so-called Alpine Carpathian Corridor, is one of the most important ecological corridors in Europe. This is severely affected by human use; the metropolitan areas of Vienna and Bratislava are in its center. But within the Alpine Carpathian Corridor there are also important large protected areas, such as the Danube-Auen National Park or Zahorie National Park, which serve as retreats for endangered animal and plant species. Alpine Carpathian Ecological Network (ACENET) aims to secure the ecological network within the Alpine Carpathian Corridor or to improve the functionality of the network. The ACENET platform will provide the basis for strategic decisions — a combination of stakeholders at different levels and orientation (municipalities, NGOs, protected area administrations, fisheries associations, etc.) to promote cross-border communication and interaction with environmental networks and green infrastructure. In order to improve the ecological network, best practices in flowing water revitalisation, local measures for species of supraregional importance such as the ice bird and improvements in natural space management are implemented. The establishment of green infrastructure will strengthen the ecological network of the Alpine Carpathian Corridor, promote the coherence of protected areas and make an important contribution to biodiversity conservation.

Die Karpaten und die Alpen sind Biodiversitäts Hotspots und zählen zu den bedeutendsten Naturräumen Europas. Die Verbindung dieser Naturräume, der sogenannte Alpen-Karpaten Korridor, stellt einen der wichtigsten ökologischen Korridor in Europa dar. Dieser ist durch menschliche Nutzung stark beeinträchtigt; die Ballungsräume Wien und Bratislava liegen in seiner Mitte. Aber innerhalb des Alpen-Karpaten Korridor finden sich auch wichtige Großschutzgebiete, wie zB der Nationalpark Donau-Auen oder Schutzgebiet Zahorie, die als Rückzugsräume für gefährdete Tier- und Pflanzenarten dienen. Alpine Carpathian Ecological Network (kurz ACENet) hat zum Ziel, das ökologische Netzwerk innerhalb des Alpen-Karpaten Korridors zu sichern bzw. die Funktionalität des Netzwerkes zu verbessern. Basis für strategische Entscheidungen soll die Plattform ACENet liefern - eine Zusammenschluss zwischen Stakeholdern unterschiedlicher Ebene und Ausrichtung (Gemeinden, NGO´s, Schutzgebietsverwaltungen, Fischereivereine usw) zur Förderung der grenzüberschreitenden Kommunikation und Interaktion bezüglich ökologischer Netzwerke und Grüner Infrastruktur. Zur Verbesserung des ökologischen Netzwerkes werden Best Practices in der Fließgewässer-Revitalisierung, lokale Maßnahmen für Arten von überregionaler Bedeutung wie zB dem Eisvogel und Verbesserungen im Naturraummanagement umgesetzt. Durch die Errichtung von GrünerInfrastruktur wird das ökologische Netzwerk des Alpen-Karpaten Korridor gestärkt, die Kohärenz von Schutzgebieten gefördert sowie ein wichtiger Beitrag zur der Erhaltung der Biodiversität geleistet.

Karpaty a Alpy sú centrami biodiverzity a patria medzi najdôležitejšie prírodné oblasti v Európe. Spojenie medzi týmito prírodnými oblasťami, takzvaný alpsko-karpatský koridor, predstavuje jeden z najdôležitejších ekologických koridorov v Európe. Tento koridor je však silno narušení ľudskými zásahmi; vrátane metropol Viedeň a Bratislava, ktoré ležia v jeho strede. Ale v rámci alpsko-karpatského koridoru sa nachádzajú aj dôležité veľké chránené oblasti, ako napríklad národný park Donau-Auen alebo Chránená krajinná oblasť Záhorie, ktoré slúžia ako útočiská pre ohrozené druhy zvierat a rastlín. Projekt alpsko-karpatskej ekologickej siete (v skratke ACENet) má za cieľ upevniť ekologickú sieť v alpsko-karpatskom koridore a zlepšiť jej funkčnosť. Platforma ACENet by mala poskytnúť základ pre strategické rozhodnutia, vytvoriť spojenie medzi zainteresovanými stranami na rôznych úrovniach a s rôznym zameraním (obce, mimovládne organizácie, správy chránených území, rybárske združenia atď.) a podporovať cezhraničnú komunikáciu a interakcie so zreteľom na ekologické siete a zelenú infraštruktúru. Na zlepšenie ekologickej siete sa budú implementovať osvedčené postupy pri revitalizácii riek, lokálne opatrenia pre druhy nadregionálneho významu, ako je rybárik riečny, a navrhovať zlepšenia správy prírodných území. Tvorbou zelenej infraštruktúry sa posilní ekologická sieť alpsko-karpatského koridoru, podporí súdržnosť chránených území a významne prispeje k ochrane biodiverzity.

Expected Results (DE):

Die Schaffung einer grenzübergreifenden Kooperationsplattform soll dazu beitragen, Interessenskonflikte zu vermeiden und ökologische Konzepte in lokale Raumordnungsstrategien zu integrieren. Dieser integrative Ansatz führt sowohl zu einem besseren Management der natürlichen Ressourcen wie auch einer effizienteren Nutzung von Investition und Förderung grüner Infrastruktur. Best Practices zu Grüner Infrastruktur sollen Anreize für weitere Investitionen in den Aufbau und die Verbesserung des ökologischen Netzwerkes Alpen Karpaten Korridor dienen. Dadurch werden „Green Jobs“ geschaffen, die Biodiversität gefördert sowie der grenzübergreifende Erfahrungsaustausch gestärkt. Durch die gezielte Umsetzung biodiversitätsfördender Maßnahmen gemeinsam mit Schulen wird Naturschutz erlebbar gemacht. Dies stärkt die Verankerung derartiger Projekte in der Bevölkerung und führt zu einem gesteigertem Bewußtsein für den Wert naturnaher Landschaften und Biodiversität. Das Projekt ACENet setzt die Initiativen Alpen-Karpaten-Korridor sowie Alpen Karpaten Fluss Korridor fort, baut auf den Ergebnissen auf und garantiert somit die langfristige Verankerung in der Region. ACENet ist ein Modell für die Zusammenarbeit verschiedener Stakeholder auf lokaler, nationaler und makro-regionaler Ebene und dient als Vorzeigeprojekt zu bestehenden Initiativen (Danubeparks, Alparcs, ADC Net,..) und Strategien (EUSDR, EUSALP, Makroregionale Strategie für die Karpaten)

Expected Results (SK):

Účelom vytvorenia platformy cezhraničnej spolupráce je pomôcť predchádzať konfliktom záujmov a integrovať ekologické koncepcie do miestnych stratégií územného plánovania. Tento integračný prístup vedie k lepšiemu riadeniu prírodných zdrojov, ako aj k efektívnejšiemu využívaniu investícií a propagácii zelenej infraštruktúry. Opatrenia týkajúce sa Best practice postupov pre zelenú infraštruktúru majú úlohu stimulovať ďalšie investície do rozvoja a zlepšenia ekologickej siete alpsko-karpatského koridoru. Vytvárajú sa tak „zelené pracovné miesta“, podporuje sa biodiverzita a posilňuje sa cezhraničná výmena skúseností. Cielenou implementáciou opatrení na podporu biodiverzity so zapojením škôl je možné “zažiť“ ochranu prírody. To posilňuje ukotvenie takýchto projektov vo verejnosti a vedie k zvýšenému povedomiu o hodnote prírodnej krajiny a biodiverzity. Projekt ACENet pokračuje v iniciatívach Alpsko-karpatský koridor a Alpsko karpatský riečny koridor, stavia na výsledkoch a zaručuje tak dlhodobé ukotvenie v regióne. ACENet je model pre spoluprácu rôznych zainteresovaných strán na miestnej, národnej a makroregionálnej úrovni a slúži na propagáciu iniciatív (Danubeparks, Alparcs, ADC Net, ..) a stratégií (EUSDR, EUSALP, makroregionálna stratégia pre Karpaty)
