Amusement Tourism Development Strategy II

"Project under the acronym ATDS II will be implemented during 12 months in Koprivnica-križevci county and Somogy county, with great influence on Koprivnica and Lake Balaton region. Overall objective of the project is establishment of efficient basis for further tourism and economic development in the cross-border region though enhanced institutional capacities and joint sectoral planning. As this project is extension of previously established cooperation, its implementation will further deepen their relations and help to form a joint territorial governance frameworks for coordinated actions related to strengthening of tourism sector as an important economic sector in the cross-border region. Specific objectives of the project are development of a documentation for amusement (entertainment) infrastructure and building of institutional competences related to management of touristic project. "Target groups that will directly benefit from this project are local and regional authorities and development agencies and organizations. Target groups indirectly benefiting are: local and regional economy, entire tourism sector (hotels, private accommodations, etc.), and very important labor market since entertainment infrastructure will be a precondition for opening of new working places. Expected outputs of the project are technical documentation of family entertainment center in Koprivnica, comprehensive international market research for enterntainment infrastructure on Lake Balaton, feasibility study for family entertainment center in Koprivnica and entertainment infrastructure on Lake Balaton (upgrading of existing study information by providing information about economic feasibility of entertainment parks, developing cost benefit, economic, environmental, sensitivity and financial analysis), two investor search and attraction plans and one joint cross-border investor searchand attraction guide. Furthermore, two joint trainings for capacity building will be realized as well as two cross-border investor search events. Partners will organize 2 conferences and altogether 4 project team meetings. Project will result with increased capacities related to joint sectoral planning through joint development of common approaches to identified common problems and challenges. Both beneficiaries are strongly focused on implementation of the proposed project in order to contribute to achievement of long term vision for the programme area which is characterized as area of diverse cooperation, facilitated by appropriate cross-border connections, shared knowledge and active and motivated groups with focus on enrichment of economic, institutional and individual relationships. Project will ensure realization of several programme results defined by the Call: 1) better harmonized sectoral planning focused on tourism, 2) more effective relationships due to good practice exchange and transfer of knowledge as well as 3) improved capacities according to organized trainings and developed strategic guides, 4) identified joint development directions based on newly developed feasibility studies, market research and technical documentation. Since the project ATDS II is continuation of successful project implemented under IPA HUHR CBC programme within the same partnership, cross-border impact will be also further extended on the basis of the previous project and its outputs. This new project will serve for deepening of cross-border impact because of increased institutional capacities and gained new skills for joint sectoral planning. The biggest benefit of this project will be realized during sustainability phase through capitalization of results because developed documentation will enable establishment of two amusement parks/entertainment centers and significantly help in branding the area as tourist destination and as region of strongly developed economy

ATDS II was a continuation of a former project implemented within the same program, through which a concept and a preliminary study for the establishment of the Family-Entertainment Center, unique in this part of Europe, was developed. In the frame of the ATDS II project the feasibility study and technical documentation (conceptual solution) was developed for the establishment of the Family Entertainment Center in Koprivnica. Beyond this the following studies were delivered: • a market research study, a financial study of a theme park, proposals for the theme of an amusement park by Lake Balaton, • a tourism investments attraction plan for the City of Siófok, • a Food Experience & Edutainment Destination study for Koprivnica, and • a preliminary analysis of the potential environmental and climate impacts of the Koprivnica Family Entertainment Center.
