Muszyna — Sabinov: We strengthen the common cultural heritage of the Polish-Slovak borderland

The project aims to restore and protect the cultural heritage of the borderland, which will have a positive impact on the conservation status of individual monuments. As part of the project, we want to renovate important cultural monuments in Sabinova and Muszyn, which represent the potential to create and expand the tourist offer addressed to visitors from Poland and Slovakia. The renovation of individual monuments will significantly contribute to strengthening cultural and social identity, as well as improving the conditions and quality of life of the inhabitants of the area. The project will carry out activities that will clearly contribute to improving the conditions for the development of tourism and will allow to eliminate several identified problems of the Polish-Slovak borderland. One of them is the poor state of cultural monuments. The project plans to renovate and renovate the defensive wall of Sabinova and rebuild a much damaged part of the Muszyn castle. Their poor technical condition and gradual degradation require major renovation works to prevent their further destruction. Both of these cultural monuments will be renovated in accordance with the recommendations of the relevant monument protection offices. Renovation of the described monuments will allow these places to be used for recreational purposes. The project also involves the organisation of joint cross-border cultural and integration events to raise awareness of cultural heritage. Through joint meetings, we want to popularise the cultural heritage of the Polish-Slovak borderland and draw attention to its historical message and promote it among current generations. This will also be facilitated by the neighboring visits of school-age children and the exchange of experiences between the Fire Brigade Units.

Projekt ma na celu odnowę i ochronę dziedzictwa kulturowego pogranicza, co będzie pozytywnie oddziaływać na stan zachowania poszczególnych zabytków. W ramach projektu chcemy przeprowadzić renowację ważnych zabytków kultury w Sabinovie i Muszynie, które stanowią potencjał, pozwalający tworzyć i rozbudowywać ofertę turystyczną skierowaną do odwiedzających z Polski i ze Słowacji. Renowacja poszczególnych zabytków w istotny sposób przyczyni się do wzmocnienia tożsamości kulturowej i społecznej, a także do poprawy warunków i jakości życia mieszkańców tego terenu. W ramach projektu będą realizowane działania, które w wyraźny sposób przyczynią się do poprawy warunków umożliwiających rozwój turystyki i pozwolą wyeliminować kilka zidentyfikowanych problemów polsko-słowackiego pogranicza. Jednym z nich jest zły stan zabytków kultury. W projekcie zaplanowano renowację i remont muru obronnego miasta Sabinova oraz odbudowę znacznie uszkodzonej części zamku w Muszynie. Ich zły stan techniczny oraz stopniowa degradacja wymagają dużych prac remontowych, które pozwolą zapobiec ich dalszemu niszczeniu. Oba te zabytki kultury zostaną poddane renowacji zgodnie z zaleceniami odpowiednich urzędów ochrony zabytków. Renowacja opisanych zabytków pozwoli na wykorzystywanie tych miejsc w celach rekreacyjnych. Projekt zakłada również organizację wspólnych transgranicznych wydarzeń kulturalno-integracyjnych, aby podnieść poziom świadomości na temat dziedzictwa kulturowego. Poprzez wspólne spotkania chcemy spopularyzować dziedzictwo kulturowe polsko-słowackiego pogranicza oraz zwrócić uwagę na jego przesłanie historyczne i rozpropagować je wśród obecnych pokoleń. Przyczynią się do tego również wizyty sąsiedzkie dzieci w wieku szkolnym oraz wymiana doświadczeń pomiędzy Jednostkami Straży Pożarnej.

The project includes the renovation and rehabilitation of the defensive wall of the city of Sabinova as well as the reconstruction of the significantly damaged part of the castle in Muszyna. Their poor technical condition and gradual deterioration require extensive renovation work to prevent their further destruction. Project successes The castle in Muszyna is an excellent example of the fortress architecture of the border area and its wonderful history is being systematically rediscovered. The medieval city walls of Sabinov are among the most authentically preserved defensive structures of royal cities in eastern Slovakia. Both facilities have great potential to attract many tourists, but their poor technical condition and bad advertising push them into the background. Muszyna will renovate and strengthen the walls of the castle. In addition, the tower building will be rebuilt, viewing areas, toilets and the necessary installations will be built. In addition, an educational trail will be marked, a pedestrian bridge and small infrastructure will be built. In Sabinov, the investment includes the renovation of selected parts of the ruins, non-existent parts of the city's most authentic preserved fortress, which will allow conservation work and the reconstruction of curtains, as well as a partial reconstruction of the surviving towers. This is supplemented by archaeological investigations that precisely determine the extent of repairs and renovations to selected parts. In addition, there will be a neighborhood visit by school-aged children to meet their friends on the other side of the border and get to know objects of shared cultural heritage. The children go on a one-day trip where they visit the most important monuments and meet their peers. The exchange of experiences between the fire service units consists in the organization of two one-day workshops on procedures related to the protection of cultural heritage from floods and fires. Thanks to the meetings organized at each project partner, cooperation is established between the units responsible for measures in crisis situations.
