As part of the preparatory work for the railway connection of the EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, which is to be put into operation by 2028, several detailed studies must be carried out before the start of the project. The INTERREG Oberrhein programme grants SNCF Réseau and its partners EUR 1.5 million from EU funding to carry out these studies under the project “Preparatory Studies to Investigate the Public Benefits of the Operation of the Rail Connection to EuroAirport”. The creation of this rail connection is very important, especially in view of the predicted increase in passenger traffic: Currently, access to the airport by car via the French A35 is much faster than with the existing public transport offer — an incentive for EAP employees and passengers to use the car. In the long term, the project will not only help to reduce road traffic through appropriate alternative offers.

Im Rahmen der Vorarbeiten für die Bahnverbindung des EuroAirports Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, der bis 2028 in Betrieb genommen werden soll, müssen mehrere detaillierte Studien vor Projektbeginn durchgeführt werden. Das Programm INTERREG Oberrhein gewährt SNCF Réseau und ihren Partnern eine Förderung aus EU-Mitteln in Höhe von 1,5 Mio. Euro zur Durchführung dieser Studien im Rahmen des Projekts „Vorbereitende Studien zur Untersuchung des öffentlichen Nutzens des Betriebs der Bahnverbindung zum EuroAirport“. Die Schaffung dieser Bahnverbindung ist insbesondere angesichts des vorhergesagten Anstiegs des Passagieraufkommens sehr wichtig: Derzeit ist die Anfahrt zum Flughafen mit dem Pkw über die französische A35 deutlicher schneller als mit dem vorhandenen Angebot an öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln – ein Anreiz für Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter des EAP und die Passagiere, das Auto zu benutzen. Langfristig wird das Projekt nicht nur dazu beitragen, den Straßenverkehr durch entsprechende Alternativangebote zu reduzieren.

Le raccordement ferroviaire de l’Euroairport Bâle-Mulhouse-Freiburg est prévu à l’horizon 2028. A cette fin, ce projet finance plusieurs études d’avant projet nécessaires. Ce raccordement en train depuis la France semble essentiel, aux vues des prévisions d’augmentation importante du trafic passager. Il proposera une réelle alternative à l’autoroute A35 pour accéder à l’aéroport. A ce jour le trajet en voiture est en effet plus qu’en transports en commun. À long terme, ce projet permettra par conséquent de diminuer le trafic routier de la zone.
