Biozide werden an Gebäudefassaden zum Schutz vor Algen- und Pilzbefall eingesetzt, gelangen in den urbanen Wasserkreislauf und schlussendlich in das Grundwasser. In einem interdisziplinären Ansatz entwickelt das Projekt NAVEBGO einen Maßnahmenkatalog, um diesen Eintrag im Bereich des Oberrheinaquifers nachhaltig zu reduzieren. In Zusammenarbeit mit den jeweiligen Stadtverwaltungen werden in den Städten Landau, Straßburg und Freiburg bestehende Eintragsrisiken ermittelt und darauf aufbauend wirksame Maßnahmen zur Eintragsreduktion zusammengestellt. Bauliche Vorkehrungen wirken einem Algen- und Pilzbefall ohne Biozideinsatz entgegen und sind so schon bei der Gebäudeplanung für Architekten relevant. Alternativprodukte zum Fassadenschutz werden im Projekt auf ökotoxikologische Unbedenklichkeit getestet und stehen Handwerkern sowie Heimwerkern zur Verfügung. Schließlich erforscht das Projekt die wichtigsten Eintragswege von Bioziden in das Grundwasser, um wirksame technische Maßnahmen zur Eintragsminimierung vorzuschlagen. Diese können dann direkt von den Stadtverwaltungen umgesetzt werden. Die Projektergebnisse von NAVEBGO sind für alle Siedlungsräume im Oberrhein anwendbar und werden über eine Online-Plattform mittels digitaler Karten visualisiert und kommuniziert. Als Schnittstelle zur Praxis dient ein einfach zu bedienendes Simulationsmodell (FReWaB-PLUS).

Biocides are used on building facades to protect against algae and fungal infestation, get into the urban water cycle and finally into the groundwater. In an interdisciplinary approach, the NAVEBGO project is developing a catalog of measures to sustainably reduce this entry in the Upper Rhine aquifer. In cooperation with the respective city administrations, existing entry risks are determined in the cities of Landau, Strasbourg and Freiburg and, based on this, effective measures for entry reduction are compiled. Structural precautions counteract algae and fungal infestation without the use of biocides and are therefore already relevant for architects when planning the building. Alternative products for facade protection are tested in the project for ecotoxicological harmlessness and are available to craftsmen and do-it-yourselfers. Finally, the project investigates the most important entry routes of biocides into the groundwater in order to propose effective technical measures to minimize entry. These can then be implemented directly by the city administrations. The NAVEBGO project results can be used for all settlement areas in the Upper Rhine and are visualized and communicated via an online platform using digital maps. An easy-to-use simulation model (FReWaB-PLUS) serves as the interface to practice.

Des biocides sont utilisés sur les façades des bâtiments pour les protéger contre les algues et les attaques fongiques, qui entrent dans le cycle de l'eau en milieu urbain et finalement dans les eaux souterraines. Dans une approche interdisciplinaire, le projet NAVEBGO développe un catalogue de mesures visant à réduire durablement ce transfert vers l'aquifère du Rhin supérieur. En coopération avec les municipalités respectives, les risques existants sont déterminés dans les villes de Landau, Strasbourg et Fribourg et, en conséquence, des mesures efficaces permettant de réduire les risques de transfert sont élaborées. Des techniques de construction permettent de limiter le développement des algues et champignons sans recourir aux biocides et peuvent être intégrées par les architectes dès la conception des bâtiments. Des produits alternatifs de protection des façades sont testés du point de vue écotoxicologique et sont disponibles pour les artisans. Enfin, le projet explore les principales voies d'entrée des biocides dans les eaux souterraines afin de proposer des mesures techniques efficaces pour minimiser les infiltrations. Celles-ci peuvent ensuite être mises en œuvre directement par les municipalités. Les résultats du projet NAVEBGO s’appliquent à toutes les zones habitées du Rhin supérieur et sont visualisés et communiqués via une plate-forme en ligne utilisant des cartes numériques. Un modèle de simulation facile à utiliser (FReWaB-PLUS) sert d’interface pour la pratique.

NAVEBGO-Analyseberichte: Um den Biozideinsatz an der Quelle zu reduzieren und Verhaltensänderungen der beteiligten Akteur:innen anzuregen, mussten diese zunächst identifiziert und die betroffenen Akteursketten analysiert werden. Dazu wurden im Rahmen von NAVEBGO verschiedene soziologische Studien mit Hilfe von Interviews und Fragebögen, sowohl in Frankreich (Strasbourg) als auch Deutschland (Freiburg), durchgeführt. Dadurch konnten die Wahrnehmung und Praktiken von Handwerker:innen, Architekt:innen und Bewohner:innen sowie die Hemmnisse bei der Umsetzung von baulichen und technischen Maßnahmen identifiziert werden. Maßnahmenkatalog für eine biozidfreie Stadt: Die Wissenschaftler stellen fest, dass Biozide in allen Kompartimenten der Stadt vorhanden sind, dass sie langlebig sind und Probleme für die Gesundheit der Ökosysteme und die menschliche Gesundheit verursachen. Diese Probleme sind nicht nur auf die ursprünglichen Substanzen zurückzuführen, sondern auch auf ihre Umwandlungsprodukte und ihre potenziellen kombinierten Wirkungen. Auf der Seite der Farbanwender hat die soziologische Studie gezeigt, dass die Allgegenwart von Bioziden und ihre Auswirkungen sowohl bei den Bewohnern als auch bei den Fachleuten, die sich mit der Gestaltung und Instandhaltung von Fassaden befassen, kaum bekannt sind. Der Wunsch und die Garantie einer weißen und "sauberen" Fassade ist eine starke Motivation für die Herstellung von Farben, die Biozide enthalten. Technische Lösungen zur Verringerung der negativen Auswirkungen von Bioziden, die auf der Einkapselung von Bioziden oder dem Einsatz von Metallnanopartikeln beruhen, erzeugen neue, noch wenig erforschte Probleme, wie die Verbreitung von Mikroplastik oder Nanopartikeln in der Umwelt. Aus diesen Gründen ist die allgemeine Ausrichtung, die NAVEBGO gewählt hat, eine entschiedene Strategie für biozidfreie Fassaden. Dieser Katalog soll daher Lösungswege aufzeigen, wie man ohne Biozide auskommen kann, indem man auf möglichst einfache und bewährte Methoden zurückgreift, die geringe Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt und die Gesundheit haben.

This catalogue is therefore intended to show solutions to how to can do without biocides by resorting to the simplest possible and best practices that have little impact on the environment and health.
