Description (EN):

The common cross-border problems are the increased morbidity and mortality of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in the adult population, which is connected with rising rates of oweweight and obesity in children age. The main goal of the project is to improve the childrens health by promoting an efficient and well functioning food safety and quality control system that leads to improved public health and to provide a support to public health institutions to evaluate eating habits, energy and nutrient intake in the preschool population. Project outputs:To improve nutrition and health outcomes of preschool children through an integrated, gender equal, environmentally sustainable systems approach to food availability and access, and food safety and quality;To evaluate the habitual food, energy and nutrient intake in the preschool population and to compare these with recommendations from the EFSA (European Food Safety Autority);To monitor eating habits and food safety aspects of the food consumption between project partner countries among preschool children;The linkage with partners laboratories and counseling services about nutrition in order to establish the best practices;The main target groups are preschool children, their families, preschool teachers with other staff members and public health nurses;In general population the HEPSC will accomplish increased level of knowledge about risk factors on NCDs and food safety and quality:The public health value of this project will be augmented by linking cross border exchange of knowledge and experiences and best practices. Expected Results (EN): The level of accessibility and availability of the services within public health care sector

Expected Outputs (EN):

Providing guidance to families concerning a healthy diet, for the preschool children, is essential in order to ensure food security and the nutritional status of a population. Respect for local food and the regions' cultural identity is also paramount. All project partners will create healthy eating habits which will prevent most of chronic conditions that are present in our populations. By educating and enforcing preschool teachers and parents healthier eating habits in those groups of adults is expected. Also, we plan to educate other population groups through information dissemination by setting up counselling centres/healthy Hub's where public health professionals can be dynamic change agents. Also, by networking with other health experts we plan to disseminate healthy diet information’s for specific groups (obese, diabetic, etc.) children and their families. Built capacity for health food safety and computer analysis (software) nutritional content of meals and for meal planning as well as laboratory analysis of meals will improve food offer in preschools. Adherence to existing nutritional standards and recommendations will be assessed. Also evaluation of changes nutritional content of preschool meals made as a result of project activities will be enabled
