Description (EN):

Due to the geographical position of Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Mediterranean region and to the increasing negative impacts of climate change, these countries are especially vulnerable to natural hazards such as floods, forest fires, extreme weather phenomena as well as earthquakes. The Balkan region has a long history of vulnerability to disasters caused by natural and man-made hazards, many of which transcend borders and exceed the management capacities of individual countries. All above mentioned request the necessity to make a common platform which would strengthen the regional cooperation in case of different types of risks in order to prevent disasters occurrence and their consequences, as well as make conditions for better preparedness and response in case of different types of disaster and for improving and enhancing the existing national and regional civil protection capacities through organization of common training and exercises, exchange of experiences in field of civil protection and disaster risk reduction. Therefore, improvement of conditions of training facilities and education with focus on unification of whole system with the same plan and program of trainings will provide better response and interoperability among all stakeholders involved in rescue operations. EXPECTED OBJECTIVE: better preparedness in cross-border area, increased level of security of the citizens and material goods. TARGET GROUPS: current and future members of Mountain rescue service and other rescue services, local governments, cross-border population ADDED VALUE: creation of joint cross- border prevention programme, creation of preconditions for joint interventions in case of accidents, exchange of experiences, sustainable partnership.

Expected Results (EN): Disaster response capability in the programme area

Expected Outputs (EN):

Project impact: Higher level of quality of life of the citizens in the cross- border area- increased security of people and material goods. Higher level of protection of environment and nature. Improved risk prevention. Results: 1. 3 educational centres established (Podgorica, Daruvar, Gradiška) and obtained equipment for education and operability for each of the partners . Parametar: number of established/renovated educational centres. Targeted value: 3 (Daruvar, Podorica, Gradiška). Source of verification: usage permit, evidences of payment, photo documentation. 2. Educated staff (at least 10 people out of each partner) . Parametar: number of educated people . Initial value: 0. Targeted value: 30. Source of verification: signing lists, copies of certificates and certificate of education. 3. Founded new GSS stations/services . Parametar: number of founded GSS stations/services . Initial value: 0. Targeted value: 2 (Daruvar, Gradiška). Source of verification: acts, decisions. 4. Performed joint demonstrative practice at the end of the project. Parametar: number of joint demonstrative practices . Initial value: 0. Targeted value: 1. Source of verification: signed lists of participants, photo documentatiom. 5. Project is visible and promoted in the public- raised awareness of the citizens on the need to preserve environment and nature . Parametar: public events, promotional material, view counts on the project website . Initial value: 0. Targeted value: 2 public conferences, min. 3000 pieces of different promotional materials, min 1000 visits to the project website. Source of verification: photo documentation, press releases, receipts, evidence of payment.
