Polish-Ukrainian territories along modern border line is rich on shared historical heritage. Program territory, that includes Volyn oblast and Lublin voivodship, is a home of famous writer, cultural and public person Józef Ignacy Kraszewski. Rich heritage of Polish-Ukrainian border - Polissya had important impact on his life and work. This local aspect of such outstanding person is mostly unknown in Ukraine thus it has good potential to become additional historical and cultural point of interest (POI) in development of touristic potential. The project aims to facilitate a transfer of Polish partner knowledge about common historical figures that can be useful in social-economic development of cross-border region combined with existing and newly created under project activities channels of popularization of regional historical heritage. The overall objective of the project – facilitation of use of cultural and historical heritage resources of Polish-Ukrainian cross- border region for better visibility of cultural and touristic potential for tourism development purposes. Among main outputs of the project are: - theatrical art event for schooling youth of 12-17 years; - 2 permanent exhibits from Museum of J.I. Kraszewski in Volyn for inhabitants and visitors of Polish-Ukrainian cross-border region; - displays, booklet, touristic tour and a variety of promotional activities for inhabitants and visitors of Polish-Ukrainian cross-border region; - study workshops for representatives of museums, cultural departments in local administrations, cultural and touristic organizations for knowledge exchange and professional development, exchanging ideas and best practices on popularization of local points of interest; - Memorandum of Cooperation between J. I. Kraszewski Museum in Romanov and Volyn Regional Historical Museum for future collaboration on Kraszewski heritage and cross-border cultural exchange. Target groups and final beneficiary under project will receive valuable experience of cross-border cooperation. Joint participation in project activities will broaden understanding of historical heritage, prominent local persons in particular, and will have constructive effect on development of tourism potential of the region and more effective use of joint local historical and cultural resources.

Expected Results (EN): Increased number of visitors of the historical heritage and cultural sites (baseline value - 24 000, target value - 28 000)

Number of improved cultural and historical sites as direct consequence of programme support (ENI/CBC 7) - 1 Number of cross-border cultural events organized using ENI support (ENI/CBC 8) - 5 Number of participants of cross-border cultural events organized with the support of ENI Foundationing - 348 Number of newly created infrastructure increasing the use of cultural heritage in tourism (e.g. cycle routes, educational paths, etc.) - 2 Number of publications describing cultural and/or historical heritage of the region(s) - 2 Number of campaigns promoting local culture and history (cultural and historical heritage) - 2 Number of trainings for staff responsible for the management of historical and cultural heritage - 1
