In den letzten 15 Jahren hat sich eine grenzübergreifende Zusammenarbeit mit dem MAK, der Mährischen Galerie in Brno (MG) und der Stadt Brtnice entwickelt, in dessen Rahmen das gemeinsame kulturelle Erbe unserer mitteleuropäischen Moderne auf höchstem Niveau vermittelt wird. Diese Zusammenarbeit machte nicht nur kreativen Künstlern auf Ebene einer Projektzusammenarbeit, sondern auch üblichen Museumsbesuchern aus beiden Ländern grenzübergreifende Begegnungen möglich. Durch die im Jahr 2020 erfolgten Maßnahmen und Einschränkungen wurden nicht nur die Gebietsprogramme des Fremdenverkehrs, sondern auch des kulturellen Geschehens erschüttert. Es existiert wohl kein Dokument zum Thema „Strategie des Fremdenverkehrs“, in dem die Kultur, Museen und Museumsausstellungen nicht als zentrale Elemente der Entwicklung des Fremdenverkehrs erwähnt werden würden. Die Diskussion über eine rasche Neueröffnung öffentlicher Museen in beiden Ländern hat auch die unverzichtbare Bedeutung von kulturellen Angeboten, die von der örtlichen Bevölkerung erwartet werden, und das Potenzial für eine Revitalisierung des internationalen städtischen Fremdenverkehrs aufgezeigt. Das Projekt reagiert auf die durch die Pandemiegegenmaßnahmen verursachte unsichere Situation und stellt J. Hoffmanns Vermächtnis mittels digitaler Technologien vor und macht sie dadurch allen Interessenten weltweit verfügbar. JH ist Mitbegründer der Wiener Werkstätte (ferner nur WW) und zentrale Figur eines Werks, das heute als „mitteleuropäische Moderne“ verstanden wird. In Anknüpfung an die Person von JH präsentiert das Projekt die erste völlig digitale Präsentation zum Werk Josef Hoffmanns, ergänzt um eine digitale Rekonstruktion des ersten Verkaufsraums der WW in virtueller Realität. Auf einer anschließenden internationalen Konferenz wird ein interdisziplinäres Publikum im MAK (ggf. online) darüber diskutieren, wie man die Prinzipien der WW in die Gegenwart übertragen kann. Auch die übrigen Projektoutputs werden im Hinblick auf den Bedarf ihrer vollwertigen digitalen Vermittlung online realisiert. Im Josef-Hoffmann-Museum in Brtnice (ferner nur JHM) entsteht eine neue Dauerausstellung über J. H., bei welcher von den aktuellen Trends der musealen Präsentation Gebrauch gemacht wird und die von einer Publikation für Kinder und von zwei saisonalen Ausstellungen im Sommer 2021 und 2022 begleitet wird. Unter der Schirmherrschaft der Stadt Brtnice erfolgt im Objekt des JHM eine Renovierung der Scheune und ihre Umgestaltung zu einem multifunktionalen Raum für die Durchführung von kurzzeitigen Ausstellungen und mit dem Vermächtnis von J. H. zusammenhängenden Begleitveranstaltungen kultureller Natur bzw. mit Bildungscharakter. Die erwähnte Scheune wird im Projekt zum zentralen Begegnungsort der Projektaktivitäten aller Partner – nach abgeschlossener Renovierung der Scheune wird dort im Jahr 2022 eine von der MG und dem MAK vorbereitete Dauerausstellung in virtueller Realität eröffnet, die Ergebnissen der von NDU durchgeführten Forschungsprojektes „Spuren der Moderne“ zeigen wird. Im Projekt werden im Rahmen eines Gastlektorenprogramms mit Workshops und Vorträgen für verschiedene Zielgruppen im ganzen Objekt des JHM innovative Bildungsprodukte entwickelt, dank denen der Genius loci wiederbelebt wird. Josef Hoffmanns komplexes Vermächtnis wird durch eine gedachte „Überschreitung“ der Grenzen des JHM-Objektes vermittelt – für Kinder und Erwachsene werden in Brtnice und Umgebung wird ein Fußgänger- und Fahrradweg auf den Spuren von J. H. angelegt, der u.a. auch zu den neu restaurierten Gräbern der Familie Hoffmann führt und den die Besucher auch dank einer im Rahmen des Projekts eingerichteten E-Mobilität (E-Bikes und Aufladestation) absolvieren können.

Over the past 15 years, a cross-border cooperation has developed with the MAK, the Moravian Gallery in Brno (MG) and the city of Brtnice, within the framework of which the common cultural heritage of our Central European modernism is conveyed at the highest level. This cooperation made cross-border encounters possible not only for creative artists on the level of project collaboration, but also for usual museum visitors from both countries. The measures and restrictions that took place in 2020 shook not only the territorial programs of tourism, but also of cultural events. There is probably no document on the subject of "tourism strategy" in which culture, museums and museum exhibitions would not be mentioned as central elements of the development of tourism. The discussion on the rapid reopening of public museums in both countries has also highlighted the indispensable importance of cultural offerings expected by the local population and the potential for revitalizing international urban tourism. The project responds to the uncertain situation caused by the pandemic countermeasures by presenting J Hoffmann's legacy through digital technologies, thereby making it available to all interested parties worldwide. JH is a co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte (further only WW) and a central figure of a body of work that is now understood as "Central European Modernism". In connection with the person of JH, the project presents the first completely digital presentation on the work of Josef Hoffmann, supplemented by a digital reconstruction of WW's first salesroom in virtual reality. At a subsequent international conference, an interdisciplinary audience at the MAK will discuss (possibly online) how to transfer WW's principles to the present. The remaining project outputs will also be realized online in view of the need for their fully digital mediation. A new permanent exhibition about J. H. will be created in the Josef Hoffmann Museum in Brtnice (furthermore only JHM), in which use will be made of current trends in museum presentation and which will be accompanied by a publication for children and by two seasonal exhibitions in the summer of 2021 and 2022. Under the auspices of the town of Brtnice, the barn of the J. H. Museum will be renovated and transformed into a multifunctional space for holding short-term exhibitions and accompanying events of a cultural or educational nature related to the legacy of J. H. The above-mentioned barn will be used in the project. In the project, the mentioned barn will become the central meeting place of the project activities of all partners - after the renovation of the barn has been completed, a permanent exhibition in virtual reality prepared by the MG and the MAK will open there in 2022, which will show the results of the research project "Traces of Modernism" conducted by NDU. In the project, innovative educational products will be developed within the framework of a guest lecturer program with workshops and lectures for various target groups throughout the object of the JHM, thanks to which the genius loci will be revived. Josef Hoffmann's complex legacy will be conveyed through an imaginary "transgression" of the boundaries of the JHM object - a pedestrian and bicycle trail in the footsteps of J. H. will be created for children and adults in Brtnice and its surroundings, which will lead, among other things, to the newly restored graves of the Hoffmann family and which visitors will also be able to complete thanks to an e-mobility system (e-bikes and charging station) set up as part of the project.

Za posledních 15 let se rozvíjela přeshraniční spolupráce mezi MAK, Moravskou galerií v Brně a městem Brtnice, která zprostředkovává společné kulturní dědictví naší středoevropské moderny na nejširší úrovni. Tato spolupráce umožnila přeshraniční setkání nejen pro kreativní umělce na úrovni projektové spolupráce, ale také pro běžné návštěvníky muzeí z obou zemí. Opatření a omezení v roce 2020 otřásla nejen oblastí programů cestovního ruchu ale i kulturního dění. Neexistuje snad dokument na téma „strategie cestovního ruchu“, který by nezmiňoval kulturu, muzea a výstavy v muzeích jako ústřední prvky rozvoje cestovního ruchu. Diskuze o rychlém znovuotevření veřejných muzeí v obou zemích také ukázala nepostradatelný význam kulturních nabídek, které místní obyvatele očekávají, a potenciál pro revitalizaci mezinárodního městského cestovního ruchu. Projekt reaguje na nejistou situaci muzeí způsobenou proti-pandemickými opatřeními a představuje odkaz Josefa Hoffmanna prostřednictvím digitálních technologií a tím ho zpřístupňuje online celosvětově všem zájemcům. J. H. je spoluzakladatelem Wiener Werkstätte (dále jen WW) a ústřední postavou tvorby, která je nyní chápána jako „středoevropský modernismus“. V návaznosti na osobu J. H. představí projekt první zcela digitální prezentaci o díle Josefa Hoffmanna, kterou doplní digitální rekonstrukce ve virtuální realitě první prodejní místnosti WW. Následná mezinárodní konference interdisciplinární publikum v MAK (případně online) bude diskutovat o tom, jak lze principy WW přenést do současnosti. I ostatní projektové výstupy budou realizovány s ohledem na potřebu jejich plnohodnotného digitálního zprostředkování online. V Muzeu Josefa Hoffmanna v Brtnici (dále jen MJH) vznikne nová stálá expozice o J. H. využívající současné trendy muzejní prezentace a doprovozená dětskou publikací o J. H. a dvě sezónní výstavy v létě 2021 a 2022. V gesci města Brtnice proběhne rekonstrukce stodoly v objektu MJH a její proměna v multifunkční prostor pro konání krátkodobých výstav a doprovodných kulturně-vzdělávacích akcí souvisejících s odkazem J. H. Zmíněná stodola se v projektu stává ústředním místem setkání projektových aktivit všech partnerů – po její rekonstrukci zde bude v roce 2022 otevřena stálá expozice ve virtuální realitě připravená MG a MAK, která bude vycházet z výsledků výzkumného projektu „Stopy moderny“ realizovaného NDU. Inovativní vzdělávací produkty budou v projektu rozvíjeny prostřednictvím hostujícího lektorského programu s workshopy a přednáškami pro různé cílové skupiny v celém objektu MJH, díky nimž bude oživen genius loci. Komplexní odkaz J. H. bude zajištěn pomyslným „překročením“ hranic objektu MJH – bude realizována poznávací pěší a cyklostezka po stopách J. H. pro děti a dospělé v Brtnici a okolí, která povede m.j. i k nově restaurovaným hrobům rodiny Hoffmannů.

The permanent exhibition Bote of Beauty in Josef Hoffmann Museum: The permanent exhibition Bote of Beauty presents Josef Hoffmann’s main artistic works, thanks to which he is regarded as one of the most important architects and designers of the first half of the 20th century. He was a godfather at the birth of Viennese Modernism and was a leading figure of the Wiener Werkstätte. Hoffmann’s undisputed significance is also evidenced by the fact that he is still a source of inspiration for today’s artists. The exhibition also presents works by contemporary artists. After the changes made at Josef Hoffmann’s birthplace, the construction of the garden and the barn, visitors can experience the extraordinary atmosphere in a more closed form. Josef Hoffmann as a messenger of beauty. The new exhibition presents Hoffmann’s life and work and sees him as an inspiration for today’s artists, with the family’s home with garden and barn at the centre. Right in the passage, the visitor is introduced to the exhibition through a geometric intervention by Esther Stocker, which refers to Hoffmann’s preference for squares. In the museum you will see new models of Hoffmann’s buildings, his valuable designs and works by contemporary artists. Josef Hoffmann was a universal talent who tried to give each object his idea of beauty. He was the creator of a new concept of lifestyle and is still an inspiration for many artists. The jardinieres and fruit baskets of the African designer Heath Nash, the cube chair by Jan Plecháč and the club sofa of Wittmann furniture workshops, where visitors can sit, are examples of this," says Rostislav Koryčánek, curator of the exhibition, on behalf of the Moravian Gallery. In the exhibition, visitors can also read books that deal with the concept of Hoffmann and have been published in the last thirty years. The new exhibition emphasises the atmosphere of the house with its garden and barn. The exhibits on display are an organic part of the interior that catches the eye with the original paintings Hoffmann designed to transform his family home into a family summer residence. Visitors now have the opportunity to explore the exhibition without a guide, and can access extended information about the exhibited works via QR codes. In the garden, they will see new play elements of the designer Herrmann & Coufal, which make the need to create design from recycled materials known. The architecturally clean barn is used for openings and other gatherings. For the first time, the Moravian Gallery has published a publication for non-readers for the exhibition. It was a challenge to write a book for non-readers. These are two new picture books for children under the age of two. The house of Josef Hoffmann with original drawings was designed by the artist Maria Makeeva in contrasting black and white and then in colour," explains Jan Press, director of the Moravian Gallery, with a smile. The Leporellas are not only sold in the Josef Hoffmann Museum in Brtnice, but also in the shops of the Moravian Gallery in Brnno. Another novelty is an educational trail that leads through Brtnice and its surroundings. One of the stations is Brtnice Cemetery, where you can see the gravestones that Hoffmann designed for his parents. Another place is the Jihlava Gymnasium. It is reminiscent of his academic failures that brought him on the path of the architect. The Moravian Gallery in Brno collaborates on this project with the Museum of Applied Art in Vienna MAK, the New University of Design in Sankt Polten and the City of Brno. The educational trail was established thanks to the INTERREG programme Austria – Czech Republic with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund.

Einige Projektoutputs finden in Brtnice statt und dienen dem Zweck das Josef-Hoffmann-Museum weiterzuentwickeln und die Stadt Brtnice zu einem modernen Kulturstandort zu machen, der tschechische und ausländische Besucher anlockt. Dabei handelt es sich um die Umwandlung der Scheune zu einem multifunktionalen Objekt für die Durchführung von Ausstellungen, Workshops u.a., die Angebotserweiterung von innovativen Bildungsaktivitäten (Ausstellungen und saisonale Ausstellungen im Objekt des JHM, Schnupperweg auf den Spuren J. Hoffmanns). All diese Outputs werden ebenso wie die Projektaktivitäten der österreichischen Partner im Rahmen des Projekts digital aufbereitet und online verfügbar gemacht. Als Ergebnis dieser Bildungsmaßnahme und Popularisierung kann man nach Beendigung der Pandemierestriktionen einen Anstieg des Interesses an einem Besuch im Programmgebiet erwarten.

Několik projektových výstupů bude realizováno v Brtnici za účelem rozvoje Muzea Josefa Hoffmanna a města Brtnice v moderní kulturní lokalitu lákající české i zahraniční návštěvníky. Jedná se o přeměnu stodoly v multifunkční objekt pro realizaci výstav, workshopů ad., rozšíření nabídky inovativních vzdělávacích aktivit (expozice a sezónní výstavy v objektu MJH, poznávací stezka po stopách J. Hoffmanna). Všechny tyto výstupy stejně jako projektové aktivity rakouských partnerů budou v rámci projektu digitálně zpracovány a přístupné online. Následkem této osvěty a popularizace lze očekávat, po skončení proti-pandemických restrikcí nárůst zájmu o návštěvu programové oblasti.
