The sea — Pomerania — the border region as places of German-Polish dialogue. Cross-border network for scientific cooperation and historical education on the Baltic Sea and Oder region

The aim of the project is to strengthen the cross-border cooperation of peripheral institutions active in the fields of pedagogy, culture, science, as well as the exchange of experience between the partners and other institutions cooperating with them and functioning on the German-Polish border. In addition, the activities are intensified in favour of the inhabitants of the region by the Historical Institute of the University of Szczecin, the Museum Schwedt, the Professorship of Monuments of the Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), as well as other partners, including the Historical Institute of the University of Greifswald. Since the beginning of their respective activities, all partners organise various workshops and conferences, the results of which have been published in numerous publications. However, this was mostly about separate or at most two-led activities, so an additional objective of the project is the networking of all partners through joint activities aimed at the population of the funding area, in particular students, researchers and all those interested in the humanities and related disciplines. The events are aimed at groups of 20 to 50-60 people each. The networking of activities along the Oder institutions draws on beneficiaries from the entire funding area and significantly completes the current offer of cultural and scientific events, especially with regard to the expected throttling of the activities of other smaller institutions (particularly under the local administration) in the context of the prevailing pandemic. The programme covers the entire calendar year for the period 2021—2022. To meet these goals, the project includes conferences, study trips, workshops and exhibitions on issues related to the history and cultural heritage of the Baltic Sea region, Pomerania and the border regions — especially the German-Polish border area. Thanks to the project, the opening up to various institutions, the synchronisation of joint activities, cooperation and the know-how gained through it, but also by inviting recognised experts from outside the funding area to participate in the meetings and workshops, the international competitiveness of the teaching and research potential of the networked institutions and the region increases. In the future, the cooperation initiated should be of considerable scientific added value, as we would like to publish the results of the discussions and meetings held in the context of the project in renowned publishers, at least recognised at European level. We also want to deepen these issues together by sending applications for funding of scientific projects to Polish and international institutions as a consortium of partner institutions. In addition, the project will pursue the following societal objectives derived from the priority axis of the funding programme: Expanding knowledge to include neighbours, influence on the inhabitants of the region, increasing their linguistic and intercultural competences, facilitating cross-border contacts in different areas, creating favourable conditions for the reception and deepening of cooperation between different institutions: Institutions in schools and higher education, museums, NGOs, historically savvy associations. Young people, students, researchers, pupils as well as journalists and leaders of local communities benefit from the diverse programme, who then act as multipliers of acquired knowledge and other competences in the field of cross-border cooperation.

Projekt ma na celu rozwinięcie współpracy transgranicznej peryferyjnie położonych instytucji, prowadzących działalność edukacyjną i naukową,  wymiana doświadczeń między partnerami oraz innymi współpracującymi z nimi podmiotami działającymi na pograniczu polsko-niemieckim oraz dalszą intensyfikację działań prowadzonych na rzecz mieszkańców regionu przez Instytut Historyczny Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego, Muzeum w Schwedt, Katedrę Zabytkoznawstwa Europejskiego Uniwersytetu Viadrina we Frankfurcie nad Odrą oraz partnerów stowarzyszonych m.in. Instytut Historii Uniwersytetu w Greifswaldzie. Wszyscy partnerzy projektu od początku swojej działalności organizują warsztaty i konferencje, ich efekty są prezentowane w licznych publikacjach, jednak były to działania najczęściej osobne, lub najwyżej dwustronne, dlatego kolejnym celem projektu jest koordynacja i wspólne sieciowe podejmowanie działań między wszystkimi partnerami, które są skierowane do mieszkańców obszaru wsparcia, a zwłaszcza do studentów, naukowców oraz wszystkich zainteresowanych dziedzinami humanistycznymi i pokrewnymi. Wydarzenia są adresowane dla grup od 20 do 50-60 os. Zsieciowanie działań nadodrzańskich instytucji przyciągnie odbiorców z całego obszaru wsparcia i w znacznym stopniu uzupełni dotychczasową ofertę kulturalno-naukowych wydarzeń, zwłaszcza wobec spodziewanego zmniejszenia aktywności innych mniejszych podmiotów (zwłaszcza instytucji podległych samorządom) w okresie po panującej pandemii. Wydarzenie będą się odbywały przez cały rok kalendarzowy w latach 2021-2022. Aby spełnić te cele projekt obejmuje organizację konferencji, wypraw studyjnych, warsztatów oraz wystaw oscylujących wokół tematów związanych z historią i dziedzictwem kulturowym strefy Bałtyku, Pomorza Zachodniego oraz stref pograniczy – zwłaszcza pogranicza polsko-niemieckiego. Dzięki projektowi, otwarciu na różne instytucje, synchronizację wspólnych działań, kooperację oraz pozyskiwane know-how, a także dzięki zapraszaniu jako ekspertów na konferencje i warsztaty uznanych specjalistów spoza obszaru wsparcie nastąpi  wzrost konkurencyjność oferty edukacyjnej i potencjału naukowego zsieciowanych instytucji, a przez to i regionu w skali międzynarodowej. Podjęta współpraca ma przynieść w przyszłości wymierne korzyści naukowe, gdyż chcemy opublikować wyniki podjętych w ramach projektu dyskusji i konferencji w renomowanych o uznaniu co najmniej europejskim wydawnictwach. Chcemy też wspólnie podjąć głębiej poruszone tu zagadnienia w postaci projektów naukowych złożonych do polskich i międzynarodowych instytucji finansujących działalność naukową przez konsorcjum złożone z instytucji partnerskich. Projekt będzie ponadto spełniać następujące cele społeczne związane z osią priorytetową programu: zwiększenie znajomości sąsiada, oddziaływanie na mieszkańców regionu, podnoszenie ich kompetencji językowych, interkulturalnych, ułatwianie nawiązywania transgranicznych kontaktów w różnych dziedzinach, stworzenie okazji do nawiązania współpracy i jej rozwoju przez różnorodne instytucje: edukacyjne, szkoły wyższe, muzea, organizacje pozarządowe, stowarzyszeń o profilu historycznym. Ze zróżnicowanego programu wydarzeń skorzystają zwłaszcza ludzie młodzi, studenci, naukowcy, uczniowie oraz dziennikarze i liderzy społeczności lokalnych, którzy będą następnie multiplikować zdobytą wiedzę i umiejętności także transgranicznej współpracy.

Das Projekt verfolgt das Ziel, die grenzübergreifende Kooperation peripher gelegener Institutionen zu verstärken, die in den Bereichen Pädagogik, Kultur, Wissenschaft tätig sind, sowie den Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen den Partnern und anderen mit ihnen kooperierenden und an der deutsch-polnischen Grenze funktionierenden Einrichtungen weiter zu entwickeln. Außerdem erfolgt auch die Intensivierung der Aktivitäten zugunsten der Einwohner der Region durch das Historische Institut der Universität Szczecin, das Museum Schwedt, die Professur für Denkmalkunde der Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), sowie weitere Partner, u.a. das Historische Institut der Universität Greifswald. Alle Partner organisieren schon seit Beginn ihrer jeweiligen Tätigkeit verschiedene Workshops und Konferenzen, deren Ergebnisse in zahlreichen Publikationen veröffentlicht worden sind. Allerdings ging es dabei meistens um gesondert bzw. höchstens zu zweit geführte Aktivitäten, daher gilt ein zusätzliches Ziel des Projekts der Vernetzung aller Partner durch gemeinsam unternommene Aktivitäten, die an die Bevölkerung des Förderraums gerichtet werden, insbesondere Studenten, Forscher und all diejenigen, die sich für Geisteswissenschaften und verwandte Disziplinen interessieren. Die Veranstaltungen richten sich an Gruppen von je 20 bis 50-60 Personen. Die Vernetzung der Aktivitäten entlang der Oder gelegener Institutionen zieht Empfänger aus dem gesamten Förderraum heran und vervollständigt in bedeutendem Maße das bisherige Angebot an kulturellen und wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen, vor allem in Hinblick auf die zu erwartende Drosselung der Tätigkeit anderer kleinerer (insbesondere der lokalen Verwaltung unterstehender) Institutionen im Kontext der herrschenden Pandemie. Das Programm erstreckt sich jeweils über das gesamte Kalenderjahr im Zeitraum 2021-2022. Um diesen Zielen gerecht zu werden, beinhaltet das Projekt Tagungen, Studienreisen, Workshops und Ausstellungen rund um Fragestellungen zu Geschichte und Kulturerbe des Ostseeraums, Pommerns und der Grenzregionen – vor allem des deutsch-polnischen Grenzraums. Dank des Projekts, der Öffnung auf verschiedene Einrichtungen, der Synchronisierung gemeinsamer Aktivitäten, der Zusammenarbeit und des dadurch gesammelten Know-hows, aber auch durch das Einladen anerkannter Experten von außerhalb des Förderraums, die an den Tagungen und Workshops teilnehmen, steigt die internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Lehrangebots und des Forschungspotenzials der vernetzten Einrichtungen sowie der Region. Die aufgenommene Zusammenarbeit soll in Zukunft von beachtlichem wissenschaftlichen Mehrwert sein, da wir die Ergebnisse der im Rahmen des Projekts geführten Diskussionen und Tagungen in renommierten, mindestens auf europäischer Ebene anerkannten Verlagen veröffentlichen möchten. Die behandelten Fragestellungen wollen wir auch gemeinsam vertiefen, indem wir als Konsortium von Partnereinrichtungen Anträge auf Förderung wissenschaftlicher Projekte an polnische und internationale Institutionen richten werden. Außerdem wird das Projekt folgende gesellschaftliche Ziele verfolgen, die sich von der Prioritätsachse des Förderprogramms ableiten: Erweiterung des Wissens um den Nachbarn, Einfluss auf die Einwohner der Region, Erhöhung ihrer sprachlichen und interkulturellen Kompetenzen, erleichtertes Knüpfen grenzübergreifender Kontakte in verschiedenen Bereichen, Schaffung günstiger Bedingungen für die Aufnahme und Vertiefung der Zusammenarbeit zwischen verschiedenartigen Einrichtungen: Institutionen im Schul- und Hochschulwesen, Museen, NGO’s, geschichtswissenschaftlich versierten Vereinen. Vom vielfältigen Programm profitieren gerade jüngere Menschen, Studenten, Forscher, Schüler sowie Journalisten und Leaders lokaler Gemeinden, die dann als Multiplikatoren des erhaltenen Wissens und weiterer Kompetenzen im Bereich der grenzüberschreitenden Zusammenarbeit fungieren.
