Voor het behalen van de klimaatdoelstellingen hecht Vlaanderen veel belang aan de introductie van nieuwe duurzame technologieën, zo toont het recent goedgekeurde Vlaams Klimaat- en Energieplan aan. Ook in Nederland ligt in de Meerjarige Missiegedreven Innovatie Programma’s (MMIP) de nadruk op marktintroductie van innovatieve technologie. Helaas bereikt beloftevolle technologie de weg naar de markt nog te weinig en geraakt het zelden voorbij de fase van onderzoek en ontwikkeling. Zeker voor MKB/KMO blijft het moeilijk om hun oplossing onder de aandacht te brengen van zowel publieke overheden als private bedrijven. Er is dus dringend actie nodig om duurzame innovatieve oplossingen sneller uit te rollen. Studies tonen aan dat technologie nood heeft aan een fysieke demonstratie- en testomgeving in reële marktomstandigheden. ConnectSME wil daarom bedrijven connecteren met zes proeftuinen in de grensregio die sterk inzetten op duurzame ontwikkeling. Thorsite (VITO), Snowball (Xvent), Green Energy Park in Vlaanderen, Green Village (TU Delft), De ploeggoot (TU Eindhoven) en Brainport Smart District in Nederland pionieren door hun infrastructuur te verbinden aan beloftevolle innovaties en zo drempels voor samenwerking tussen clusters en regio’s weg te nemen. Via een vouchersysteem zullen 36 bedrijven ondersteund worden om hun product of dienst te testen. Hierbij zal grensoverschrijdende samenwerking maximaal gefaciliteerd en ondersteund worden, waarbij kwalitatieve matches gevormd worden met partijen over de grens. Deze trajecten staan toe feedback te krijgen op basis van het werkelijke gebruik van de technologie. De inzichten die hier ontstaan leiden tot verdere verfijningen van het product en verhogen de kansen op commercieel succes. Daarnaast worden de producten ook per proeftuin voorgesteld aan een breed publiek om zo de kenbaarheid van de producten te verhogen. De beoogde uitkomst biedt zowel een belangrijke bijdrage aan de klimaatdoelstellingen als een economische meerwaarde in de vorm van meer omzet en meer tewerkstelling in de grensregio. Op 29/10/2020 is er een eerste matchmakingevent georganiseerd. Er hebben 77 bedrijven deelgenomen aan dit online event en dit heeft tot 131 afspraken geleid met de voorgestelde proeftuinen. Een tweede matchmaking in een online setting heeft plaats gevonden op 18/03/ 21. Meer dan 85 bedrijven hebben zich geregistreerd voor dit event. Uit beide events en door actieve prospectie van de projectpartners is een pot van bedrijven ontstaan waar de proeftuinen mee aan de slag gegaan zijn. Ondertussen zijn er meerdere connecties gemaakt, waaruit reeds 3 getekende vouchertoekenningen zijn voortgekomen.

In order to achieve the climate objectives, Flanders attaches great importance to the introduction of new sustainable technologies, as the recently approved Flemish Climate and Energy Plan shows. In the Netherlands, too, the Multi-Year Mission-Driven Innovation Programs (MMIP) emphasize the market introduction of innovative technology. Unfortunately, promising technology does not reach the market enough and rarely makes it past the research and development stage. Certainly for SMEs it remains difficult to bring their solution to the attention of both public authorities and private companies. Urgent action is therefore needed to accelerate the roll-out of sustainable innovative solutions. Studies show that technology needs a physical demonstration and test environment in real market conditions. ConnectSME therefore wants to connect companies with six living labs in the border region that are strongly committed to sustainable development. Thorsite (VITO), Snowball (Xvent), Green Energy Park in Flanders, Green Village (TU Delft), De Plow gutter (TU Eindhoven) and Brainport Smart District are pioneering in the Netherlands by linking their infrastructure to promising innovations and thus creating barriers for collaboration between clusters and regions. 36 companies will be supported through a voucher system to test their product or service. Cross-border cooperation will be facilitated and supported as much as possible, whereby qualitative matches will be formed with parties across the border. These trajectories allow to receive feedback based on the actual use of the technology. The insights generated here lead to further refinements of the product and increase the chances of commercial success. In addition, the products are also presented per experimental garden to a wide audience in order to increase the awareness of the products. The intended outcome offers both an important contribution to the climate objectives and an economic added value in the form of more turnover and more employment in the border region.
