Description (EN):

The project will raise awareness among pupils and teachers of the actions to be taken in different situations that may endanger the safety of students on both sides of the border. Project will improve students' knowledge of the traffic regulation and the need to comply with it, safe use of internet and how to manage conflict situations. Safe environment will be ensured not only at school, but also on the way to it by improving infrastructure – creating video surveillance systems in the territories of Jēkabpils, Iecava, Jonišķis and Pakruojis schools and surroundings, improving Pakruojis district Žeimelis gymnasium lighting, installing school fences in Pakruojis and Jēkabpils schools, as well as by installing high-speed radars at Iecava Secondary School territory. The project's activities include six training cycles for 180 education specialists, experience exchange seminars, 8 training seminars on potential risks and dangers on the internet, as well as four trainings to reduce peer violence through the drama method. Also One-day orienteering competition for students will be organised in Jēkabpils, Pakruojis, Joniskis as well as Iecava to inform the public about the work done and the improvements made during the project. As a result of the project, new momentum will be found to address the issue of violence in schools and society, as well as to create a safer environment.

Projekts palielinās skolēnu un skolotāju informētību par veicamajiem pasākumiem dažādās situācijās, kuras var apdraudēt skolēnu drošību abpus robežai. Projekts uzlabos skolēnu zināšanas par satiksmes noteikumiem un to ievērošanas nepieciešamību, drošu interneta izmantošanu un konfliktsituāciju risināšanu. Droša vide tiks nodrošināta ne tikai skolā, bet arī ceļā uz to, uzlabojot infrastruktūru - ierīkojot videonovērošanas sistēmas Jēkabpils, Iecavas, Jonišķu un Pakrojas skolu teritorijās un to tuvākajā apkārtnē, uzlabojot Pakruojas Žeimelis ģimnāzijas apgaismojumu, izbūvējot žogus Pakrojas un Jēkabpils skolās, kā arī uzstādot ātrgaitas radarus Iecavas vidusskolas teritorijā. Projekta aktivitātes ietver sešus apmācības ciklus 180 izglītības speciālistiem, pieredzes apmaiņas seminārus, 8 apmācību seminārus par iespējamiem riskiem un apdraudējumiem internetā, kā arī četrus treniņus kā, izmantojot drāmas metodi, mazināt vardarbību vienaudžu starpā. Lai informētu sabiedrību par projekta laikā paveikto, Jēkabpilī, Pakrojā, Jonišķos, kā arī Iecavā tiks organizētas vienas dienas orientēšanās sacensības skolēniem. Projekta rezultātā tiks rasti jauni impulsi, vardarbības problēmu risināšanai skolās un sabiedrībā, kā arī drošākas vides radīšanai

Projektas informuos mokinius ir mokytojus abejose šalyse kaip elgtis skirtingose situacijose, iškilus pavojui mokinių saugumui. Projektas suteiks mokiniams žinių apie saugaus eismo taisykles ir būtinybę jų laikytis, saugų interneto naudojimą, konfliktinių situacijų valdymą. Saugios aplinkos užtikrinimui mokykloje ir pakeliui į ją bus sukurta vaizdo stebėjimo sistemas Jēkabpilio, Iecavos, Joniškio ir Pakruojo mokyklų teritorijose bei apylinkėse, pagerintas Pakruojo rajono Žeimelio gimnazijos apšvietimas, aptvertos Pakruojo ir Jēkabpilio mokyklų teritorijos, o šalia Iecavos vidurinės mokyklos bus įrengti automobilių greičio matuoklai. Projekto metu bus suorganizuoti šeši mokymų ciklai 180 švietimo specialistų, gerosios patirties sklaidos seminarai, 8 mokomieji seminarai apie riziką ir pavojus internete, taip pat 4 mokymai naudojant dramos metodą skirti sumažinti bendraamžių smurtą. Siekiant informuoti visuomenę apie projekto metu nuveiktus darbus ir atliktus patobulinimus Jēkabpilyje, Pakruojyje, Joniškyje bei Iecavojebus suorganizuotos vienos dienos mokinių orientavimosi varžybos. Projektas pastūmės visuomenę spręsti smurto mokyklose ir visuomenėje problemą, taip pat sukurti saugesnę aplinką.

Achievements (EN):

Strengthening the capacity of education specialists In order to strengthen the capacity of education specialists four good practice experience visits in Latvia and Lithuania, and one experience exchange abroad in Sweden were planned. Two teachers’ good practice exchange seminars were held in Iecava and Jekabpils. As well there have been two teacher exchange good practice seminars in Joniškis and Pakruojis. During these events, there were discussions about the concept of a safe school, the implementation of best practices and the possibilities to take over these practices. In order to create a safe school environment using the Swedish experience and transferring it to the Programme countries, during the visit there were discussions about such topics as the responsibility of teachers and school administration to prevent conflicts in schools, the responsibility of parents, ensuring a safe school environment, cooperation with NGOs, young people and organizations, effective training methods, statistics, legal norms, etc. The project held six training cycles with discussions for education specialists. In total, more than 450 education specialists participated in the training. Improving student skills To improve the students’ skills of various emergency situations in schools, there have been six interactive training activities on road safety and safe way to school, eight trainings on safe use of the Internet, eight training seminars on potential risks and dangers on the internet, as well as four trainings to reduce peer violence through the drama method. Students could test their safe cycling knowledge and skills by participating in competitions in Iecava. And they also could improve their cooperation skills by participating in summer cross-border Educational and Recreational Camp “Safe School for Safe Life”. In addition one-day orienteering competition for students was organised in Jēkabpils, Pakruojis, Joniskis and Iecava to inform the public about the work done and the improvements made during the project. The results of the project were summarized and discussed during the project partner teacher conference. Improving infrastructure Safe environment was ensured not only at school, but also on the way to it by improving the infrastructure – creating video surveillance systems in the territories of Jēkabpils, Iecava, Jonišķis and Pakruojis schools and surroundings, improving Pakruojis district Žeimelis gymnasium lighting, installing school fences in Pakruojis and Jēkabpils schools, and by installing speed radars at Iecava Secondary School territory and creating safe cycling training area. Continuing education online In order for those interested to be able to use the knowledge gained during the project in the future, four video clips on safe driving were created in the project – ”Know your bike”, ”Be a polite cyclist”, ”By bike to school”, ”Practical cycling”. And three video clips which include information on different risks and how to deal with them – videos on safe road to school; video on the Internet safety; video on the peer physical and emotional violence.

Expected Results (EN): Number of solutions improving public services

Expected Outputs (EN):

As a result of the project, cooperation of 5 institutions will be established and a network of teachers / education specialists will be established. This will improve the quality of the public service and will promote the exchange of good practice between the institutions, improve cooperation between the municipality, parents, educational institutions, NGOs. The security of 4 educational institutions will be improved by making small investments in infrastructure (video cameras, traffic infrastructure, fence), generally improving school and public safety. The capacity of educational institutions will be increased by training several teachers and education specialists on the concept of a safe school and its implementation in seminars, discussions, creating a safe video driving training program for students. As a result of the project, one publicly accessible service will be created - a web library with a safe school concept video training. A study will be conducted to formulate recommendations for a safe school concept. All planned activities correspond with the specific objective 4.1 of the Priority 4 of the program, “Promoting the effectiveness of public services by enhancing the capacity of the institutions”, by offering a number of solutions that can improve education in public services of the border area and increases the number of institutions involved in cooperation.
