Description (EN):

Project tackles one of the main challenges of the region: valorising and preserving the rich and varied cultural heritage and taking advantage of it in a sustainable way to support economic development. Also, it aims to overcome the negative impact of pandemic; the latter proved tourism to be an economic force and a source of livelihoods, raising awareness of this potential at the highest levels of government and amongst the public at large. However, it has also shown fragility of the sector being highly fragmented, imbalanced and still with low digital intensity. Based on IT-HR five previous projects‘ results, BOOST5 will deploy a systemic approach at a CB level, involving private and public actors in adoption of common strategies for cultural and landscape identity in order to: - eliminate main obstacles limiting full development of sustainable tourism offer; - promote community driven ideas and new market opportunities through capacity building plans about innovative approaches, sustainability and managerial skills; - promote synergies among diverse stakeholders and territories to speed up successful implementation of sustainable policies and environmental awareness; - pave the way for the next strategic steps such as green accreditation or zero impact tourism labels and building on next programming period opportunities.

We are thrilled to share the groundbreaking results of the BOOST5 Project, shaping the future of tourism in the Italy-Croatia region! We are very proud to present you the outputs on which all the partners worked together. Series of documents and events such as the High Level event contributions, Journalist Study Visit, Inventory of heritage in minor territories, Thematic best practice catalogue, White paper on financial opportunities, EUSAIR Pillar 4 ‘Air Cultural Routes’ flagship paper, Study Visits, Masterclasses programme and Capacity building workshop for policymakers set the base for the BOOST5 Output 3.1 ""Guidelines for design and exploitation of alternative Natural and Cultural Routes in the Italy-Croatia area promoting accessibility, sustainability and delocalization of touristic flows toward fewer known attractions"". Output 3.1 will support the improvement of administrative policies to foster cultural assets as a growth resource, both at regional and cross-border level. Output 3.2 ""Financial Dialogue Perspectives for Project Ideas for the Programming Period 2021-2027"" is built upon the following documents elaborated within the BOOST5 project: the ""White Paper Identifying Financial Opportunities in the Next Programming Period for Tourism Sector Enhancement at IT - HR Territorial Level"" (D 3.2.1) and the ""EUSAIR Pillar 4 ""Air Cultural Routes"" Flagship Paper"" (D 3.2.2). After a general overview of the EU main policies and priorities linked to tourism, this document will outline the different financial instruments available for the tourism sector (with a focus on the Italy-Croatia CBC area) and offer a methodology for transnational co-creation of project ideas that can be further capitalised with the funds available within the programming period 2021-2027. The document will also provide four concrete examples of project ideas with contextual data and supporting methodology for planning future activities related to the promotion of culture and tourism in the programme area and beyond. “MADE IN-LAND: MAnagement and DEvelopment of INLANDs”, project financed by Interreg 2014-2020, aims to make the natural and cultural heritage a lever for the sustainable development of inland areas. The constitution of Output 3.3. ""Permanent Cross-Border Observatory"" (PCO) is part of the planned activities. This document aims to establish the Permanent Cross-Border Observatory of “MADE IN-LAND“that is expanded further by activities of Interreg Italy-Croatia “BOOST5” cluster project. Expected Results (EN):

According to thematic area of interest, the BOOST 5 project results will contribute to diversifying, deseasonalizing and delocalizing the touristic flows within the area by promoting new and innovative integrated offers of coastal and inland areas tourism, to maintain the competitiveness of the sector. Main results may be summarised as follows: Better understanding of the impact and opportunities in cultural tourism segments caused by pandemic.Improved planning and programming capacities based on diversified approaches and inspired on inclusive and environmental sustainable models. Better coordinated management of tourism flows thanks to the upgrading of existing tools addressing cultural and natural tourism destinations. Wider and deeper knowledge and practises to trigger innovative cultural fruition solutions and offers based on digitalization of natural and cultural heritage.

Expected Outputs (EN):

The project outputs will be used by other target groups as guides for implementation of the same activities in other contexts. The proper identification and involvement of public and private subjects (municipalities, entrepreneurs' organizations, and associations operating in the tourism sector) and the communication and participatory planning actions during project lifetime will provide opportunities for identifying new contexts for replicability and related financial support. The project communication strategy will ensure the dissemination of project results and moreover will facilitate the adoption of project results by other subjects providing advice on possible customization.
