The personality of G. J. Mendel and the discovery of Mendel’s inheritance rules deserve to be described as the cross-border symbol and common cultural heritage of AT-CZ. His work is complementary to Vienna and Brno. In Vienna, he acquired academic knowledge and then put it into practice in his greenhouse in his experiments with peas. The main goal is to express Mendel’s legacy. In order to achieve this, long-term cross-border cooperation is to be established, in which Mendel’s legacy is to be promoted and maintained. At the same time, a space for cross-border cooperation and scientific exchange will be created. This leads to positive changes. Cross-border cooperation will be deepened. Regular meetings, cultural and scientific events will be made to their new base, which will help spread Mendel’s spiritual legacy. The core output consists of a common strategy developed to make Mendel’s legacy popular. A strategic plan should be created for this. The strategic plan will determine how Mendel’s legacy in the fields of science, culture and humanity will be promoted in both CZ and Austria. In addition, digital material for a rotating workshop and video recordings of the Mendel Days will be created for the public. Numerous scientific cooperations between AT and CZ researchers will also be established. The strategy, for which a framework construction, a basic structure has already been drawn up, will be elaborated in detail in the course of the project together with other partners in order not only to ensure project sustainability, but also to involve the population of the common border area in pursuing the project’s main objectives. As a partial output, the renewed Mendel greenhouse should be created, but not for growing and growing plants in it. No, it will become a multipurpose space for cultural and scientific events. The accessible greenhouse, which has already shown interest to many institutions, not only in AT and CZ, for its future regular use, will make it possible to deepen mutual relations and connect citizens to the populations of each region. Die Persönlichkeit von G. J. Mendel und die Entdeckung der Mendelschen Vererbungsregeln verdienen es, als grenzübergreifendes Symbol und gemeinsames kulturelles Erbe von AT-CZ bezeichnet zu werden. Sein Werk ist komplementär mit Wien und Brünn verknüpft. In Wien hat er sich akademisches Wissen angeeignet, um es anschließend in seinem Gewächshaus bei seinen Experimenten mit Erbsen in die Praxis umzusetzen. Es ist das Hauptziel, Mendels Vermächtnis Ausdruck zu verleihen. Um dies zu erreichen, soll eine langfristige grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit geknüpft werden, bei der für Mendels Vermächtnis geworben und es gepflegt werden soll. Zugleich soll ein Raum für grenzüberschreitende Kooperationen und für wissenschaftlichen Austausch geschaffen werden. Dadurch treten positive Veränderungen ein. Es wird die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit vertieft. Zu ihrer neuen Basis werden regelmäßige Treffen, kulturelle sowie wissenschaftliche Veranstaltungen gemacht, die dazu beitragen werden, Mendels geistiges Vermächtnis zu verbreiten. Das Kernoutput besteht in einer gemeinsamen Strategie, die ausgearbeitet wird, um Mendels Vermächtnis populär zu machen. Dafür soll ein strategischer Plan entstehen. Der strategische Plan wird bestimmen, wie für Mendels Vermächtnis in den Bereichen Wissenschaft, Kultur und Menschheit sowohl in CZ als auch in Österreich geworben werden soll. Außerdem sollen digitales Material für einen rotierenden, für die Öffentlichkeit bestimmten, Workshop sowie Videoaufzeichnungen der Mendel Days entstehen. Ebenfalls sollen zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Kooperationen zwischen den Forschungsmitarbeitern von AT und CZ geknüpft werden. Die Strategie, für die bereits eine Rahmenkonstruktion, eine Grundstruktur erstellt ist, wird im Verlauf des Projektes gemeinsam mit anderen Partnern detailliert ausgearbeitet, um nicht nur für Projektnachhaltigkeit zu sorgen, sondern um auch die Bevölkerung des gemeinsamen Grenzraums an der Verfolgung der Projekthauptziele zu beteiligen. Als Teiloutput soll das erneuerte Mendel-Gewächshaus entstehen, jedoch nicht deshalb, um darin Pflanzen anzubauen und zu züchten. Nein, es wird daraus ein Mehrzweckraum für kulturelle und wissenschaftliche Veranstaltungen. Das zugänglich gemachte Gewächshaus, für dessen künftige regelmäßige Nutzung bereits jetzt schon zahlreiche, nicht nur in AT und CZ ansässige Institutionen ihr Interesse bekundet haben, wird es ermöglichen, die gegenseitigen Beziehungen zu vertiefen und die Bürger, die Bevölkerung der einzelnen Regionen zu vernetzen. Osobnost G.J. Mendela a jeho objev zákonů dědičnosti lze označit za přeshraniční symbol a společné dědictví AT-CZ. Jeho dílo je komplementárně spojeno s městy Vídeň a Brno. Ve Vídni si osvojil akademické znalosti, které následně v Brně uvedl do praxe při pokusech s hrachem ve svém skleníku. Hlavním cílem je vyjádření Mendelova odkazu navázáním dlouhodobé přeshraniční spolupráce při propagaci a péči o Mendelův odkaz, jakož i vytvořením prostoru pro přeshraniční spolupráci a kulturní a vědeckou výměnu. Tím dojde k pozitivní změně a prohloubení přeshraniční spolupráce založené na pravidelných setkáváních na kulturních a vědeckých akcích, které budou přispívat k šíření Mendelova odkazu. Hlavním výstupem bude společná strategie pro popularizaci Mendelova odkazu vytvořením Strategického plánu propagace Mendelova odkazu vědě, kultuře a lidstvu v ČR a Rakousku. Dále vznikne digitální materiál pro rotující workshop pro veřejnost a videozáznamy z Mendel Days, stejně jako řada nově navázaných vědeckých spoluprací mezi výzkumnými pracovníky v AT a ČR. Základní osnova strategie je již vypracována, v průběhu projektu bude společně se všemi partnery dopracována tak, aby zajistila udržitelnost projektu a zapojení obyvatelstva příhraničních regionů do naplňování hlavního cíle projektu. Dílčím výstupem projektu bude obnovený Mendelův skleník, ze kterého místo prostoru pro pěstění vznikne polyfunkční prostor určený pro kulturní a vědecké akce. Zpřístupněný objekt skleníku, o jehož budoucí pravidelné využívání mají zájem již nyní četné instituce nejen v CZ a AT, umožní prohlubování vzájemných vztahů a propojování občanů v regionech. Realizací projektu zvýšíme povědomí o Mendelově odkazu a obnovíme kulturní památku, která je vnímána jako symbol genetiky. Propagace Mendelova odkazu bude probíhat na základě přeshraničních aktivit pro veřejnost. Díky charakteru některých akcí (např. konference, koncerty, turistika) bude vyhledáváno přenocování, čímž projekt přispěje k naplnění Ukazatele výsledku. Přeshraniční přístup je stěžejní pro vyjádření komplexní osobnosti Mendela, která se rozvíjela na obou stranách hranice. Projekt navazuje na aktivity realizované v rámci FMP programu INTERREG V-A Rakousko-Česká republika: Projekt KPF-02-087 Mendel je, Projekt KPF-02-134 Mendelův rukopis a projekt Mendel do škol. Inovativní na přístupu projektu je přeshraniční spolupráce na celospolečenské snaze prezentovat Mendela jako významné pojítko mezi AT a CZ.

Achievements (EN):

The renovated Mendel greenhouse was inaugurated on 12 November 2022 with the participation of more than 250 people from the Czech Republic, Austria and other countries. These included important representatives of the government, the Czech Republic, the Czech state and local government, Czech and Austrian science and the general public. First there was a lecture by P. Migueal Ángel Orcasitas Gómez, OSA, Doctor of Church History, Lizentiat in Geography and History, entitled Mendel’s Human and Religious Adventure, followed by the opening of the greenhouse with the blessing of the Bishop of Brno. Mendel Days 2022 The world-renowned scientist and founder of genetics was introduced to the public on 2 and 3 November 2022 with lectures and an accompanying programme. The lecture programme dealt with Mendel’s contacts during and after his lifetime, the reception of Mendel’s personality and his work, the reception and abuse of Mendel in the ideologies of the 20th century and translations of Mendel’s work. The programme included a concert and guided tours that provided a favourable environment for networking with other institutions.

Hauptergebnis ist die Pflege und die Propagierung des Vermächtnisses Mendels in Form einer aktiven Zusammenarbeit der AT und CZ Partner im Sinne von Aufklärungstätigkeit im Bereich der Wissenschaft, des Glaubens und der Kultur. Durch das Investitionsvorhaben, die Erneuerung von Mendels Gewächshaus, werden für diese Tätigkeiten die entsprechenden Räumlichkeiten zur Verfügung stehen, wobei das Gewächshaus zum materiellen Ausdruck von Mendels Vermächtnis wird. Hier werden Bildungs- und Popularisierungsaktivitäten für die Fachöffentlichkeit wie für Laien stattfinden (Konferenzen, Workshops, touristische Vermittlungsprogramme). Die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren Partnern wird das Angebot an traditionellen mehrtägigen Veranstaltungen für die Öffentlichkeit erweitern. Daher ist mit einem verstärkten Interesse an einem Besuch der Programmregion zu rechnen. Mehrtägige Veranstaltungen werden zum Erreichen des Ergebnisindikators beitragen, da sie Nächtigungen fördern werden.

Expected Outputs (CS):

Hlavním výsledkem je péče a propagace odkazu Mendela formou aktivní spolupráce AT a CZ partnerů ve smyslu osvětové činnosti v oblasti vědy, víry a kultury. Investiční akce -obnova Mendelova skleníku, poskytne těmto činnostem odpovídající prostory, kdy se skleník stane hmotným vyjádřením Mendelova odkazu. Budou zde probíhat vzdělanostní, osvětové a popularizačních aktivity pro odbornou i laickou veřejnost (konference, workshopy, turistické poznávací programy). Přeshraniční spolupráce s dalšími partnery rozšíří nabídku tradičních vícedenních akcí pro veřejnost. Díky tomu lze očekávat nárůst zájmu o návštěvu programové oblasti. Vícedenní akce pak přispějí k dosažení ukazatele výsledku, jelikož budou vyžadovat přenocování.
