Description (EN):

The main objective of the project is to increase the attractiveness of the border region by complex development of natural heritage areas, nature preservation and way of environmental interpretation. The project focuses on Natura 2000 areas - Senné ponds, Bodrogzug and Bodrog Floodplain and Bodrogzug-Kopasz-hegy-Taktaköz. We plan to develop and restore tourism infrastructure in the affected locations, namely visitor centers and nature paths in Senné, Bodrogkeresztúr, Sárospatak, and a bird-watching tower in Tarcal. To improve the tourism services, we plan to build a campsite and introduce bike rental system in Senné. We plan to increase awareness about the area by joint communication activities. Among others, we will develop a bird-watching guide presenting several important bird locations of the program area, an educational film and a 3D tour. Project outputs and affected areas will also be promoted at the international event - BirdFair – organized in the UK. As a result of the project, we expect the increase of visitor numbers in the region, thanks to the developed and restored infrastructure and introduction of the new tourism services. It is presumed, that the project implementation will lead to the increased awareness of the natural heritage in the affected area and increased public interest in the protection of natural values and biodiversity.

Achievements (EN):

The project was implemented within the Interreg V-A Slovakia Hungary cross-border programme. The main objective of the project is to increase the attractiveness of the border region by complex development of natural heritage areas, nature preservation and way of environmental interpretation. Within the project BirdTour a visitor centre in Senné, a bike rent place, observation tower, new elements on the nature path and a campsite were established. As a result of the project, we expect the increase of visitor numbers in the region, thanks to the developed and restored infrastructure and introduction of the new tourism services.

Expected Results (EN):

We aim to increase the number of visitors in SPA Seniansky rybníky in Slovakia and in SPA Bodrogzug and Bodrog Floodplain and Bodrogzug-Kopasz-hegy-Taktaköz in Hungary in the municipalities Sárospatak, Bodrogolaszi, Bodrogkeresztúr, Tarcal. Since most of these visitors are one day visitors the base value is estimated by individual survey. We will analyse the target value also by individual survey in Hungary and with counters in Slovakia.

10, Tangible outcomes: 20 binoculars , 5 binoculars for bird monitoring , 5 cameras for documenting birds , 1 monoscope with tripod for bird monitoring , 100 nest boxes , 1 garden shelters, 10 tables , 20 benches , 1 set of equipment for voluntary camps , 100 Bird Guides, 11, Tangible outcomes: 10 Bikes , 1 set of bike services equipment, 12, Tangible outcomes: 1 watching tower, 1 information wooden stand, 13, Tangible outcomes: newly build nature trail: 1,5 km, 1 watching tower , 6 information boards , 1 rest place:1 table and 2 benches, 14, Tangible outcomes: 1 renovated exhibition space – 184 m2, 1 exterior exhibition space – 40 m2, 2 professional scopes with tripod , 2 professional binoculars , 8 binoculars , 1 night vision device , 1 drone set, 10 work wear sets, 15, Tangible outcomes: 1 study, 16, Tangible outcomes: 2 counters, 17, Tangible outcomes: 1 camping site: built-up area in total- 547,45m2, 18, Tangible outcomes: 4 seminars, 3, Tangible outcomes: Implementation of the communication activities for all Slovakian beneficiaries based on communication plan. 1 Oculus , 1 exterior movable education tool, 4, Tangible outcomes: 1 exhibition stand on BirdFair 5, Tangible outcomes: Restored 10 km of tourist signage, 11 restored information boards/panels , 2 restored shelters, 1 restored traditional well , 1 restored bird-watching tower , 1 mulching machine, 1 electro-wheeler, 1 electrobike, 6, Tangible outcomes: 1 restored bird-watching tower, 7, 2 km of newly developed nature path, 2 interactive information boards , 1 feeder with observation point , 1 replica of wooden bird house in human size , 1 wooden footbridge , 2 observation covers, 8, Tangible outcomes: 1 developed Nature garden – 1400 m2, 9, Tangible outcomes: 1 public procurement documentation, 1 reconstructed Aves center – 185,86 m2.
