Description (EN):

Today the Fortress System of Komárom is an important tourism attraction of the border region and can be found on the UNESCO Tentative List. In order to make the Fortress System an even more outstanding tourist attraction, the two project partners will carry out various renovation works. The lead project partner will elaborate various renovations in the New Fortress of Komárno: doorways and avant-corps of army barracks will be renovated, new exhibition rooms, new restrooms, a new information and ticket office, a new external electrical network will be developed thanks to a new transformer station. Furthermore chimneys and ventilation holes will be renovated, also new paths will be developed for visitors thanks to the green and invasive trees cutting. The other project partner will also elaborate various renovations in Fort Igmánd of Komárom: existing exhibition hall, canteen and consumer hall, offices and storages, also water blocks will be renovated. In addition to this a new heating kitchen will be established to make Fort Igmánd a suitable venue for various events. Furthermore, the partner will elaborate cleaning and aftercare of the Fort’s facade and make some landscaping and spatial planning.The size and interactivity of the areas that can be visited will increase, and the conditions for receiving visitors will improve, as modern visitor reception centers will be established. As a result, a number of exhibitions and events will await visitors, who will have an even more complex experience and the sights. Visitors will be able to see a hand-painted map of the Central Fortress in Komárno, also 360° 3D photos and a joint promo video about the 2 Fortresses. Project partners will promote the project via joint social media campaigns (on Facebook, in Google) about the project progress and about the Fortresses.

Achievements (EN):

The main goal of the project was to restore the unused rooms in the Barracks building into modern and comfortable spaces for the ticket office, toilets and exhibition room. This space will be used by visitors to the fortress, where they will be able to purchase tickets, souvenirs and refreshments. A 70m long part of the facade and the stone paving in the barracks were also restored. Another goal was to build a new transformer station for electrical distribution throughout the Fortress.

Current situation: The actors are still cooperating in the form of various joint events, but there is a lack of cooperation within entire regions. Targeted situation: Increasing visitors numbers by promoting both fortresses and regions by new image video and organizing joint accompanying programs to attract new visitors to the renovated rooms and areas

Expected Outputs (EN):

3, Outputs: - supporting documents related to all public procurements of LB and B1; - contract with 2 external procurement management provider (LB:1, B1:1); 4, Outputs: - complete documentation for the renovation and the building process, - 1 renovated doorway and avant-corps of army barracks in the New Fortress, - 1 newly built information and ticket office, - 1 new exhibition space, - 1 new restrooms space, - 1 new external electrical network, - 1 new transformer station, - camera system connected to the Municipal Police, - audio system at the Entrance Gate of the Central Fortress, - 2 maquettes, 3D models of the Central Fortress and the Barracks building, - archeological research implemented during the construction, - occupational safety plan 5, Outputs: - New paths for visitors; - Reconstruction works of the corridor side of the information office, the exhibition room and the new restrooms - near the doorway of the Army Barracks on 120 m2; - New stone paving near the Ticket Office - gateway; - Restoration of a paved area (road) in front of the Barracks on 820 m2; - Renovated chimneys and ventilation holes (approx. 100 pieces); - Green and invasive trees cutting (on 29 000 m2); - New lighting of the corridors on two floors of the Barracks building (on approx. 1000m). 6, Outputs: - 1 renovated exhibition hall, - 1 renovated canteen and consumer hall, - 1 renovated offices and storage space, - 1 renovated water blocks 7, Outputs: - 1 new heating kitchen, - 1 facade cleaning and aftercare, - 1 landscaping and spatial planning 8, Outputs: - 2 joint workshops (1 about infrastructural planning in Komárno by LB, 1 about joint marketing, sustainable operation/maintenance in Komárom by B1), - 1 joint social media campaign (on Facebook, in Google, and other social media) for 24 months about the project progress and about the Fortresses, - 1 joint promotion video about the 2 Fortresses, - 360° 3D photo shooting about the 2 Fortresses
