- Green Growth (Interreg MED programme 2014-2020), 2019-2022.
- Project labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean in 2019. Green Growth is the 2nd phase of the Horizontal Project (HP) aimed to support the Modular Projects (MPs) under the Green Growth thematic of the Interreg MED Programme priority Axis 1 - Innovation. Green Growth acts as a community of projects promoting a green and circular economy in the Mediterranean region by fostering innovation through an integrated and territorial based cooperation approach. The Green Growth Community consists of 17 projects connecting more than 165 partners from 13 countries in the Mediterranean. These projects tackle topics from agri-food, eco-innovation, smart cities to waste management. Green Growth builds upon achievements of the first phase HP SYNGGI and further maximises the transnational replicability and capitalization potential of results. It involves the quadruple helix actors in stakeholder engagement workshops and transferring and mainstreaming sessions to share their best practices in the field of green growth and to promote the effective transfer of concrete results into regional/national policies. Partners and territories that represent the maximum geographical coverage, including territories from the southern shore of the MED, as well as relevant initiatives, have been engaged on effective political leverage for demand driven and territorial evidence-based policy change on green growth thematic coherent with the Mediterranean and EU policy framework. The project, through its project coordinator, entered as a member of the Coordination Group of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform. (EN) | Project partners UVIC-UCC, REVOLVE, DVISION and CENER21 are involved in this project and they will bring the knowledge and experience learned throughout the project implementation in Community4Innovation. The project will benefit from key outputs delivered in Green Growth such as: Catalogue of Project’s Actionable Knowledge and Project’s Results, Policy Papers on EU priorities, Green Growth Capitalisation Platform, guidelines for stakeholder engagement workshops, as well as the coordination and methodologies developed in the different Work Packages. Community4Innovation will also build on the extensive network of actors, beyond Interreg MED communities, that has been collaborating in the different project activities and will be invited to take part of the Community4Innovation hub. (FR), SYNGGI - Synergies for Green Growth Initiative-Energising the Impact of Innovation in the Mediterranean (Interreg MED programme 2014-2020), 2016-2019.
- SYNGGI was the 1st phase of the Horizontal Project (HP) aimed to support the Modular Projects (MPs) under the Green Growth thematic of the Interreg MED Programme priority Axis 1 - Innovation. The project was designed as an agile tool to unify project results, support Mediterranean stakeholders and create a fruitful and collaborative environment for all implicated bodies. The project was structured to support communication and capitalization activities and at the same time offer technical support, ready to answer to projects' needs and offer innovative solutions. During its implementation, the idea of connecting project’s results to the circular economy priorities was introduced, launching a new, ‘circular’ way of thinking in the projects’ activities. In October 2019, the Union for the Mediterranean labelled the Green Growth Community, thereby acknowledging its potential to advance cooperation in the transition to a green and circular economy and to deliver concrete benefits to the citizens of the Mediterranean region. (EN), SwitchMed I & II (DG NEAR direct funding), 2013-2023.
- SwitchMed Programme has demonstrated the potential to support and scale up the transition towards Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) practices which contribute to a green and circular economy in the southern Mediterranean. The opportunities associated with the adoption of such SCP practices have a clear link to supporting stabilisation of the region through sustainable and inclusive economic development and the protection of natural resources. The Programme is implemented by UNIDO leading the industry component activity; UNEP in charge of the policy national component; and UNEP/MAP & ARC/MEDWAVES implementing the activities of the policy-regional, start-ups and entrepreneurs and networking facility component. Overall, SwitchMed supports policy makers, eco-innovative small and medium sized enterprises, industries, start-ups and entrepreneurs in 8 countries of the southern Mediterranean. The project aims to integrate this typical business-related expertise into public policies implementation, in order to boost more efficient use of natural resources. Each project region has its own characteristics, methods of design and implementation of policies. Nevertheless, all of them face a common challenge: the adoption of a more efficient use of natural resources to reduce the non-desirable secondary effects that generate negative economic and environmental impacts. (FR), Plastic Busters CAP (ENI CBC MED), 2021-2023.
- Plastic Busters CAP aims to facilitate decision-makers and stakeholders in effectively tackling the problem of marine litter by integrating EbM (Ecosystem-Based Management Approach) into ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) planning towards good environmental status. The project seeks to consolidate and fully exploit the knowledge obtained by five relevant projects in order to develop tailored-made capitalization actions that will create the enabling conditions for a societal shift towards sustainable consumption and production patterns, and a truly circular and green economy. (FR) | Project partners UNISI, MIO-ECSDE and ARC are partners of the Plastic Busters CAP project bringing its long-standing experience in research, advocacy, awareness raising and networking on marine litter issues. In addition, UNISI is the Lead Partner of the project, while MIO-ECSDE is leading the marine litter monitoring and mitigation work package of the Plastic Busters CAP project. Therefore, Community4Innovation project can benefit through gained knowledge and blue growth skills of generating a roadmap on marine litter policy priorities, the creation of a coastal cities network for a litter-free Mediterranean, and the development of e-learning modules and training campaigns, as well as pilot projects on circular economy and sustainable business models to prevent marine litter. (FR), BLUEfasma (Interreg MED programme 2014-2020), 2019-2022.
- BLUEfasma is a pilot modular project within the Blue Growth Interreg MED community. BLUE DEAL integrates 14 partners from 9 countries around the Mediterranean. To this end, BLUEfasma integrates and implements circular economy principles in key sectors such as fishing and aquaculture to benefit Mediterranean insular, island and coastal areas in a novel innovative way. Therefore, the project aims at empowering the innovation capacity of SMEs, maritime clusters and networks in the MED areas to find optimum solutions to the transnational challenge of continual depletion of natural resources that causes serious environmental, economic and social impacts.
