The project SPlasH! analysed for the first time the presence/origin/dynamics of microplastics in the ports of Genoa, Olbia and Toulon by analysing different matrices (water, sediment, fish) and conducting numerical simulations; it carried out awareness campaigns by means of a ‘serious game’ involving 2500 students at 14 schools in Liguria (63 classes) and 7 schools in Sardinia (32 classes) and public events in the regions involved. SPlasH & Co plans to continue with these activities considering the current state of the Maritime area (and the whole world) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For monitoring, the sampling will capitalize on practices and prototypes created by SPlasH!. Having collected samples before the pandemic for SPlasH!, it will be possible to collect samples during and/or after the pandemic: the additional data collected will provide elements to improve understanding of the diffusion and behaviour of microplastics in the port environment by exploiting mathematical models, and the impact of the pandemic on the marine environment in terms of the lockdowns and the huge increase in the use of disposable items. The project will focus on two ports (Genoa and Toulon): this will extend the knowledge acquired thus far and improve capitalization of the data and means available. From the point of view of communication, the project will allow the results already obtained by SPlasH! to be disseminated on a larger scale and methodologies and tools to be developed that are suitable for digital dissemination in a COVID-impacted society, along with the full dissemination of the actions and results of the new project. SplasH & Co will provide information and improve awareness on the issue of plastic/microplastic pollution during COVID-19 among the entire population of the areas concerned and beyond, thanks to multimedia tools, public initiatives - including online - and the development of physical dissemination and communication methods compliant with the pandemic safety recommendations.

Il progetto SPlasH! ha analizzato per la prima volta presenza/origine/dinamiche delle microplastiche nei porti di Genova, Olbia e Tolone analizzando diverse matrici (acqua, sedimento, pesci) e realizzado simulazioni numeriche; ha realizzato campagne divulgative coinvolgendo 2500 studenti con 14 Scuole Liguri (63 classi) e 7 Scuole Sarde (32 classi), realizzando un serious-game, ed eventi pubblici sui territori coinvolti. SPlasH & Co prevede di portare avanti queste attività considerando lo stato attuale in cui l’area Marittimo (e il mondo intero) si trova a causa della pandemia di Covid- 19. Per i monitoraggi, i campionamenti avverranno capitalizzando pratiche e prototipi creati da SPlasH!. Avendo campionato prima della pandemia per SPlasH!, sarà possibile campionare durante e/o dopo la fine di essa: gli ulteriori dati raccolti forniranno elementi per comprendere meglio diffusione e comportamento delle microplastiche nell’ambiente portuale sfruttando i modelli matematici, e impatto della pandemia sull’ambiente marino per le restrizioni ad essa associate e l’enorme aumento dell’uso di oggetti monouso. L’attenzione sarà focalizzata su due porti (Genova e Tolone): ciò permetterà l’approfondimento delle conoscenze acquisite finora e una migliore capitalizzazione dei dati e dei mezzi a disposizione. Dal punto di vista della comunicazione sarà possibile quindi divulgare su maggiore scala i risultati già ottenuti da SPlasH! ed elaborare metodologie e strumenti adatti alla divulgazione digitale in una società covid-impacted e diffondere a pieno le azioni e i risultati del nuovo progetto. SplasH & Co informerà e divulgherà il tema dell’inquinamento da plastiche/microplastiche durante l’era Covid presso l'intera popolazione delle aree interessate e non solo, grazie a strumenti multimediali, iniziative pubbliche anche digitali e sviluppo di metodologie divulgative e comunicative fisiche ma rispettose delle prescrizione di sicurezza relative alla pandemia in corso.

SPlasH! a analysé pour la 1ère fois la présence/origine/dynamique des microplastiques dans les ports de Gênes, Olbia et Toulon en analysant différentes matrices (eau, sédiments, poissons) et en effectuant des simulations numériques; il a mené des campagnes populaires auprès de 2500 étudiants avec 14 écoles liguriennes et 7 écoles sardes, créant un serious game et événements publics sur les territoires touchées. SPlasH & Co prévoit de poursuivre ces activités compte tenu de l'état actuel dans lequel la zone Maritime (le monde entier) se trove, due à la pandémie de Covid- 19. L'échantillonnage capitalisera les pratiques/prototypes créés par SPlasH!. Après avoir échantillonné avant la pandémie (SPlasH!), il sera possible d'échantillonner pendant/après la fin de la pandémie: les données collectées fourniront des éléments pour mieux comprendre diffusion/comportement des microplastiques dans l'environnement portuaire en exploitant des modèles mathématiques, et l'impact de la pandémie sur milieu marin en raison des restrictions et de l’augmentation de l'utilisation d'articles jetables. L'attention sera focalisée sur deux ports (Gênes, Toulon): cela permettra d'approfondir les connaissances acquises jusqu'à présent et une meilleure capitalisation des données et des moyens disponibles. Pour la Communication, il sera possible de diffuser les résultats obtenus par SPlasH! à plus grande échelle et développer des méthodologies/outils adaptés à la diffusion numérique dans une société impactée par le Covid et diffuser pleinement les actions/résultats du nouveau Projet. SplasH & Co informera/diffusera le thème de la pollution plastique/microplastique à l'époque Covid auprès de toute la population du Maritime et pas seulement, grâce à des outils multimédias, initiatives publiques y compris numériques, développement de méthodologies de diffusion/communication physique, mais respectueux des exigences de sécurité liées à la pandémie en cours.
