The aim of the project - to strengthen institutional capacities and cooperation of Lithuanian and Polish Border Guard Services in order to decrease transnational criminality in Lithuanian and Polish border region.
- This project was the first to be jointly developed, financed and successfully implemented by the Lithuanian and Polish Border Guard Services. It was a project that established a partnership between the two institutions in the area of project implementation, formed a joint project implementation team and established new contacts between officials at the practical level. (EN) | The project No. LT-PL-3R-199 provided the officers with specialised equipment for joint patrolling within the Lithuanian-Poland border region, knowledge and tactical skills for vehicles and people inspection, combating illegal migration and criminal intelligence. The Guidelines regarding long-term cooperation, prepared by the partners' experts, have become a practical clarification and tool for the implementation of the political agreements between the States and have highlighted moments and areas where expert insights and cooperation are needed. One of the relevant areas is the practical exchange of information between officers in the course of their duties and the lack of a secure communication channel. The scientific conference organised by the project provided an opportunity to discuss the latest challenges faced by the services in border surveillance and to provide insights for improving functions and cooperation. This new project SBGS/23 makes a synergy in several ways. The project will continue the partnership and cooperation of institutions and staff and the trust of partnership will be increased. The specialised equipment acquired through the project will expand joint activities and strengthen the protection of the Lithuanian-Polish border and public security at regional level. Modern, sustainable and digital equipment will be purchased to complement the pool of equipment purchased previously and according to an acctuall needs. New joint training programme will ensure improve tactical skills focusing on management of actual geopolitical threats and will complement previously improved tactical skills. According the Guidelines developed during the first project, group of experts will make an assessment on establishing of LTU-PLU Frontier Station, which will expand joint activities in the border region in the longer term. This project does not duplicate the activities of the previous project, but make a significant synergy within the partnership. (EN), Project “Development of cooperation of Lithuanian and Poland border guard services”, co-financed by INTERREG No. LT-PL-5R-400 has been implemented in period 2021-2022. The aim of the project - to reinforce the capacities of LT and PL Border Guard Services jointly to respond to emergency situations in cross-border area. This project was the second to be jointly developed, financed and successfully implemented by the Lithuanian and Polish Border Guard Services. It helped to develop a partnership between the two institutions and contacts of officers in the area of project implementation. (EN) | The project provided the officers with specialised equipment for joint and common acting within the Lithuanian-Poland border region, knowledge and tactical skills for joint management of crisis situations as well as COVID19 pandemic. The Memorandum of understanding for exchange of information between the institutions and officers and in line with Guidelines regarding long-term cooperation (prepared by previous project) has been developed by the partners' experts. Within this project the operational exchange of information will be practically tested as part of joint training and as pilot action. As another pilot action the direct radio channel for partners will be established and will be tested using new radio connection terminals. This new project SBGS/23 will support partnership, communication and cooperation between partners as well will increase interaction in case of geopolitical threats considering aggression of Russia. New specialised equipment will enable to expand joint activities and strengthen the protection of the LT-PL border and public security at regional level. Modern, sustainable and digital equipment will be purchased to complement the pool of equipment purchased previously. New joint training programme will ensure development and improving of tactical skills focusing on management of actual geopolitical threats and the basic tactical capacities gained previously will allow to constrain skills of high value. New staff will be engaged in the training. An assessment on establishing of LTU-PLU Frontier Station will continue activities of inside experts on practical implementations of political decisions and will expand joint activities in the border region in the longer-term period.
