  • EUStrategyAdriaticIonianRegion The overall objective of Pillar 2 "Connecting the Region" is to improve connectivity within the Region and with the rest of Europe in terms of transport and energy networks. The specific objectives for this pillar include “To achieve a well-interconnected and well-functioning internal energy market supporting the three energy policy objectives of the EU – competitiveness, security of supply and sustainability. This pillar strongly supports the Europe 2020 Strategy:
  • - Smart growth: innovative solutions which reduce costs, improve
  • - Sustainable growth:the condition for better functioning energy market and thus development of energy production from renewable sources.
  • - Inclusive growth
  • Other The strategies and policies refer to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the "post-Kyoto" negotiation, to the climate Conference in Paris - COP 21, December 2015 signed by 196 countries and to be ratified by 2020. Following Kyoto, the EU has issued the "20-20-20 climate-energy package" (Directive 2009/29/EC), valid from January 2013 until 2020.In 2014, the European Council re-determined the EU 2030 Climate-Energy objectives: reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and up to 40% the share of renewables, energy efficiency target of 27%. The Directive (EU) on the energy efficiency 2018/844 of 30 May confirms that all citizens have the right to consume, store and sell self-produced energy, by becoming active consumers.
