Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

    • SeaBasinStrategyBlackSea The project will foster collaboration among the countries in the Black Sea Basin, promoting joint efforts to address the common challenge of wildfires. By bringing together relevant stakeholders from different target countries, such as firefighting agencies, environmental organizations, and local institutions, the project will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices in wildfire prevention and mitigation. By establishing early warning systems for wildfires, the project will contribute to risk reduction and enhanced resilience in the Black Sea Basin. The project also aligns with the objectives of the Common Maritime Agenda, which emphasizes sustainable development in the Black Sea Basin. By preventing and mitigating wildfires, it will help protect and preserve the region's natural resources, including forests, biodiversity, and coastal areas. This contributes to maintaining the ecological balance and promoting sustainable economic activities such as tourism and fisheries. It is sure that by reducing the occurrence and severity of wildfires, it will help preserve the region's natural heritage and support conservation efforts and support the environmental protection in the basin in line with the objectives of the CMA for the BSB.
    • The project also will have a strong effect on the crisis management capacity building: The project's establishment of early warning systems, capacity building activities and collaboration mechanisms will strengthen crisis management and emergency response capabilities in the Black Sea Basin. It will improve the preparedness and coordination of relevant authorities, enabling a more effective and coordinated response in case of wildfires or other emergencies including cross-border disasters.
    • EUStrategyDanubeRegion The Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova are taking part in the EU Strategy for he Danube Region. The project will foster collaboration among target countries in the Black Sea Basin, which includes those two countries within the Danube region. This collaboration aligns with the objective of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region to enhance regional cooperation and integration. Wildfires pose a significant threat to the environment, including forests, wildlife habitats, and water resources. The project's focus on preventing and mitigating wildfires contributes to environmental protection in the Danube region. The project's emphasis on public awareness aims to educate and engage communities, raising their understanding of wildfire risks and promoting sustainable practices. By involving local communities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, the project supports the objective of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region to foster active citizenship and participatory governance. Additionally, the project's efforts in preventing and mitigating wildfires contribute to sustainable development in the Danube region.
    • Other European Green Deal is an ambitious strategy to make Europe the world's first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The project aligns with this strategy by contributing to environmental protection, sustainable land management, and biodiversity conservation. It addresses the risk of wildfires, which can have significant environmental impacts, and promotes awareness and capacity building for sustainable practices.
    • EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change: This strategy aims to increase the resilience of Europe's society, economy, and ecosystems to the impacts of climate change. The cross-border project directly supports this objective by focusing on early warning systems and risk reduction measures for wildfires. It enhances the region's adaptive capacity and contributes to the overall goal of adapting to climate change.
    • EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 aims to halt the loss of biodiversity and restore degraded ecosystems. The project aligns with this strategy by addressing the risks posed by wildfires to biodiversity-rich areas in the Black Sea Basin. It contributes to the protection and restoration of ecosystems, fostering biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience.
