Description (EN):

APOLLO aims to improve wellbeing of working population, by fostering cooperation between public administrations, research centers, companies and stakeholders, on the topic of territorial corporate welfare. In particular, the topic of digitalization as a means to support social innovation will be addressed. The consortium is made up of 10 members, from Italy, Austria, Germany and Slovenia, belonging to four sectors: Public Administrations, universities/research centers, adult education and business (SMEs). Furthermore, several observers will act as multipliers or implementators of the actions foreseen. The project aims to face different challenges of the AS: new needs in the field of work-life balance (demographic changes, need for support for families, e-health); new types of work (remote working, flexibility), new forms of territorial corporate welfare (collaboration among privates and private-publics) and digitalization impacting on HR management. The specific objectives of the project are: 1) improve knowledge and exchange of good practices, particularly under the topic of digitalization for corporate and territorial welfare 2) improve cooperation among different stakeholders (PAs at different levels, R&D, SMEs, workers) 3) improve working conditions and access to services in Alpine areas, especially in decentralized areas, and in SMEs. The main activities will include a transnational best practice, needs analysis and capacity building for public bodies and public and private stakeholders. In addition, pilot actions will be implemented in Italy,Slovenia, Germany and Austria and GearingUP toolkit (transferability requirements and setting up) will be created. Finally, the WP3 policy recommendations will go in the direction of a legislation and best practices sharing between different PAs. Transnational cooperation between partners and stakeholders will be fundamental for the exchange of good practices, needs analysis and network creations.

Actual Achievements (EN):

The activity started in September 2024, in accordance with the approved work plan. In the first semester of activity, partners started the coordination actions and the operational planning of project’ activities. The Project Management Plan was developed and the project Steering Committee was established to ensure the active participation of each partner. The first moment of sharing with the partners coincided with the kick-off meeting, held in Saluzzo on September 18th and 19th, 2024. This was followed by periodic online meetings aimed at setting up the implementation methods of the project and sharing the experiences conducted. The partners jointly developed a communication plan and designed a project poster and a roll-up. The first project newsletter addressed to stakeholders and target groups was designed, developed and distributed: the project mailing list currently has 261 contacts. The project's social media channels, Facebook and LinkedIn, were created and constantly updated with posts. The project website was developed and the key project data were uploaded. On each partner’s website has been created a page dedicated to the project. Within WP1, the actions launched in this first semester of activity were aimed at acquiring and evaluating the needs of the local communities involved and were coordinated by the partner FOS (PP4). As part of Activity 1.1 - Mapping and analysis of existing best practices, a comparison action between partners was started to define the most effective implementation methods. In the different territories involved, in-depth analysis and mapping actions of best practices at local, national and EUSALP area levels were then carried out. Specific survey sheets were then jointly created and a homogenization work was carried out on the entered data to ensure their comparability. The analysis rigorously evaluated territorial welfare policies and the integration of digital models, directly aligning with the strategic focus areas of the APOLLO project. In relation to Activity 1.2 - On-desk and on-site needs analysis, the contents of the questionnaires have been developed and defined: each partner then translated the material into their own language and distributed the questionnaires through official and unofficial channels, existing collaboration networks, and created new networks and relationships useful for the purpose of the project. Focus Groups were also organized in the territories involved, anticipated by preparatory activities that included actions to define participants and methods of organization and management defined in a shared manner. For each Focus Group, a report has been prepared containing the summary of the key results and conclusions that work as a basis for further project activities. The collected information was analysed, discussed, and documented in a shared project document that gives an important contribution to the pilot’s development, implementation, and scaling. Within Activity 1.3 - Capacity Building (CB) and sharing of experiences, the workday planning activities have been started and are currently underway. Formal and informal contact actions with sector experts were carried out for the organization of capacity building days. The activity will continue in the coming months starting from the outcomes of actions 1.1 and 1.2. Actions under Activity 1.4 - Call for interest for service providers have been initiated and are currently ongoing. The infrastructure for the call for interest for service providers has been put in place, developed from an IT-technical perspective, ensuring a structured and efficient approach. The framework is designed to facilitate seamless interaction with service providers while maintaining reliability and security. Finally, within WP3, the actions related to Activity 3.3 - Creation of the APOLLO network and final event have been started. The activity of creating the APOLLO network was started from the construction of the network among the partners: the kick off meeting and numerous online meetings were organized. The activity was extended to subjects external to the partnership with the involvement of public and private stakeholders of the territories involved, through the dissemination of online information, through the official channels of the partners and the project, and through the enhancement of existing relationships and the involvement of new subjects and entities. Furthermore, broadening the view to the supra-local context, the activities of structuring a network were explored in depth on the occasion of the participation of some partners in the annual EUSALP Forum held in Slovenia in November 2024. Activities were started and continued in accordance with the approved work plan. During the first year of the project, project management, partnership coordination, and the operational definition of the work plan were fully established. Numerous meetings between partners were organized, both in person and online, to ensure the active participation of all partners. Communication activities initially included presenting information about the project and disseminating content closely related to employee well-being. Web and social media channels are consistently implemented; newsletters are produced and distributed regularly. Going into the details of the work packages, it is highlighted that the WP1 activities have been carried out and concluded, as planned. A survey of existing best practices was conducted and information on the needs of local communities was acquired through questionnaires and focus groups (Activities 1.1 and 1.2). The results of this survey were collected and processed by PP4-FOS in the document "E-book on the state of the art" (Deliverable 1.2.1). The core of the project's second semester activities was the organization of capacity building workshops in all the project's territorial areas (Activity 1.3): training and discussion workshops were organized with local stakeholders, and useful reflections and proposals for the next phases of the Apollo project were collected. As part of Activity 1.4, a Call for Interest for Service Providers was prepared: a dedicated platform was created to identify local organizations to involve in testing innovative solutions to promote well-being at work. Finally, the methodological framework that, shared among the partners, will guide the implementation of the pilot actions was defined: the Guidelines for Pilot Actions implementation (Deliverable 1.5.1) were developed. WP2 activities began in the second semester of work with the preparation of the pilot actions (Activity 2.1). In this planning phase, administrations and stakeholders of the participating territories were involved in jointly defining the needs and objectives of the pilot actions. Finally, WP3 activities related to the creation of the APOLLO network (Activity 3.3) continued. Starting with the creation and consolidation of relationships between partners, contacts were established with local stakeholders in each country involved in the project. Under the guidance of the lead partner, the APOLLO project initiatives were integrated into the overall strategy of the Alpine Space Programme and Eusalp, through participation in specific events and meetings.

This example, which was very successful, can be used as a starting point for the database planned in WP2, on welfare services. (EN), TERA project (Strategy of Prekmurje region) (EN) | TERA’s goal is to improve work-life balance in rural areas, focusing on gender disparities and economic marginalization of women. It deals with low awareness of work-life balance options, economic decline of rural women, low stakeholder involvement and limited access to services due to remoteness. The project sets up local systems in Posavje and Pomurje to empower men and women to face work-life balance challenges. EUStrategyAlpineRegion APOLLO activities are in line with EUSALP Strategy. The project will contribute to objectives 1 (Fair access to job opportunities, building on the high competitiveness of the Region) and 2 (Sustainable internal and external accessibility to all). APOLLO partners have agreed with AG2 and AG5 the possible common topics of interest and the collaboration , in particular WP1 and 3 and in the EUSALP activities (e.g. Digital Alps Conference). The Young council will be invited in events of the project.
EuropeanGreenDeal APOLLO contributes to EU Green Deal priorities, by focusing on the “Attention to sustainable behaviour in workplaces”, “Implementation of services that can both improve the well-being of the worker and improve sustainability” and it is in line with the EU 2040 Climate target “Fairness, solidarity and social policies at the core of the transition.
