- NightLight (Interreg Europe) (EN) | The Night Light project brought together regional authorities from The Netherlands, Hungary, Spain, Luxembourg, Denmark, Slovenia, and Italy, to strengthen their regional policies for light pollution prevention, dark sky preservation, and sustainable economic use of places with dark skies. Each partner region introduced packages of policy measures at the regional level to promote a reduction in light pollution, protect the implemented darkness through specific designations, and establishing the groundwork for dark sky eco-tourism. The ADRISKY project builds on this work by drawing from policy recommendations and best practices made by the project, but also adds the unaddressed dimension of ecological and human health protection. (EN), Dynamic Light (Interreg Central Europe) (EN) | The Dynamic Light project developed a methodology for energy efficient lighting in urban areas that is sensitive to the need for light pollution reduction, while meeting the social needs of urban populations active at night. The project laid the foundation for higher quality, controllable lighting with better visual performance and improved safety of urban environments across Europe. The ADRISKY project expands on this work by including ecological factors and biodiversity sensitivity in lighting recommendations, and extending the recommendations made to protected areas and various habitat types, not just urban ones. (EN), Starlight (Erasmus) (EN) | The STARLIGHT project aims to encourage sustainable dark sky tourism by training and up-skilling tourism providers and tourism educated individuals with various areas of expertise from institutions in six European countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Spain. By promoting dark sky tourism, the project raises awareness about the importance of dark sky preservation among tourism providers, public authorities, and the general public. The ADRISKY project builds on this work by integrating the ecological aspects of light pollution into outreach and communication activities. (EN), ADRILINK (Interreg Adrion) (EN) | The LP1 established the "Interpretation Center for Dark Sky Conservation" within the Adrilink project (Adriatic Landscape Interpretation Network) in the organisation's home region of Pomurje Slovenia. The ADRISKY project will boost the interpretation centre's role of a regional platform for issues related to light pollution and nocturnal habitats preservation, and allow further development of the interpretation centre with additional features, information, knowledge, and interactive experiences. (EN), Life at Night (LIFE+) (EN) | LIFE+ Life at Night project focused on the problem of light pollution due to lighting of cultural monuments and churches in particular. In the project, a lamp was developed which produces less light pollution, has a smaller impact on nocturnally active animals and consumes less electrical energy than lamps that were previously used. The knowledge generated and the equipment developed within this project will be used in the ADRISKY project in some of the pilot actions. (EN), Globe At Night (NSF) (EN) | By participating in the Globe At Night programme, individuals worldwide have been able to contribute valuable data on night sky brightness. This citizen-science campaign has amassed a substantial database of over 200,000 measurements from people in 180 countries over the last 14 years. These measurements provide crucial insights into the extent and severity of light pollution globally. By leveraging the extensive network and global reach of the Globe At Night programme, ADRISKY can access a wealth of citizen-contributed data and promote its own initiatives to a wider audience. Similarly, the Globe At Night programme can benefit from ADRISKY's project outcomes, methodologies, and best practices in addressing light pollution in the Adriatic-Ionian region. (EN), Night Sky Light Pollution (NASA) (EN) | NASA's project utilises satellite imagery and ground-based measurements to assess global light pollution levels. ADRISKY will leverage NASA's data and employ its Anecdata platform for further data collection, enhancing understanding and supporting effective mitigation strategies in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
