The common challenge faced by EcoCamp project, led by the Foundation for the Protection of the Great Masurian Lakes LP1 in cooperation with partners from the Giżycko commune PP2 and the Vilnius district PP3, concerns the multi-faceted environmental degradation affecting both of these locations. All partners are struggling with environmental degradation, including water pollution, deforestation and habitat destruction. The common challenge is to combat problems and restore ecological balance. Environmental problems transcend administrative boundaries, affecting ecosystems and communities on both sides of the border. This requires a collaborative, cross-border effort to identify root causes and implement effective solutions, given complex nature of these problems. There is a shared need to combat the lack of environmental awareness in communities. Many residents may not fully understand impact of their actions on environment. Challenge is to instill a sense of responsibility and environmental awareness, developing a shared commitment to sustainable development practices. Project aims to create a more eco-conscious society and reduce various forms of pollution. Its main goal is to inspire pro-ecological activities and educate communities from LP1, PP2, PP3. Project assumes a significant increase in ecological awareness of society through various educational initiatives, such as 2 festivals and 2 camps. Participants are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the environmental impact of their actions and tools to make more informed decisions. By organizing festivals combined with clean-up-the-world campaign, project aims to engage local communities. It is expected residents will become active participants in pro-ecological activities, engaging in nature conservation and taking initiatives to improve environment. Transfer of knowledge by LP1 specialists on the use of modern technology in the field of environmental care is intended to lead to specific actions reducing pollution and protecting natural resources. By identifying and solving the sources of ecological problems, project will contribute to improving the quality of the environment. By organizing cross-border events, the project aims to strengthen cooperation between the Masurian and Vilnius regions. This exchange of experiences and collaborative work is expected to bring benefits in identifying and solving ecological problems that cross administrative boundaries. Main products and benefits: 1. Festivals for the Earth - two (3-day) events in Poland and Lithuania, ecological lectures, field games, cleaning the world, analysis and sorting of collected garbage. - benefits: the local community will gain deeper ecological knowledge (2x200 people), participants will acquire the skills to identify and reduce sources of pollution (2x43 people), festivals integrate various social groups, building a common commitment to environmental protection, knowledge about sources of pollution will contribute to more effective actions preventive measures, presenting the scale of the problem through waste analysis will guide the community towards more sustainable practices. 2. Eco-Camp in PL and LT - two cross-border camps: sailing PL and cycling and kayaking LT, field games, lectures, use of modern technology. - benefits: young people will gain practical experience in researching and protecting the environment (2x20 people), guardians will gain knowledge on how to effectively educate young people in the field of ecology (2x4 people), LP1 specialists will cross boundaries by sharing expert knowledge with partners (2 people). The implementation of the project also involves the exchange of knowledge and experience between partners, reports and analyzes of ecological problems covering both locations: increased cooperation between region, more effective solving of ecological problems thanks to use of diverse perspectives, building bridges for lasting cooperation and exchange of experiences for environmental protection. The project combines environmental education, active community involvement and cross-border cooperation. Partners share common ecosystems. A cross-border approach allows these areas to be understood and effectively managed as one coherent ecosystem. Common problem of environmental degradation, pollution and biodiversity loss covers both locations. A cross-border approach enables the identification of common sources of problems and the development of coherent solutions, eliminating the administrative barrier. Inter-area cooperation contributes to the exchange of unique experiences, the participation of LP1 experts allows for a more comprehensive analysis and effective actions. A unique element of the project is the analysis of sorted and collected garbage during the world clean-up campaign. This step allows communities to be presented with the scale of the pollution problem, which may result in a more conscious approach to waste management and consumption.

Expected Achievements (EN):

The aim of the project is to engage residents of the border regions of Poland and Lithuania in the protection of nature, biodiversity and reduction of pollution by organizing four cross-border educational and ecological events, including 2 thematic camps and 2 festivals, which aim to raise ecological awareness and strengthen cooperation between local communities.

project no. LTPL00027 "WATER ECOLOGICAL NETWORK" Interreg LT-PL (EN) | The project "EcoCamp - everyone can live ecologically" has a number of points of synergy with the current project no. LTPL00027 "WATER ECOLOGICAL NETWORK". Here are some aspects of cooperation and synergy between projects:
1. Joint activities on water reservoirs - both projects assume the organization of activities on rivers, such as cross-border kayaking and cross-border youth diving camp, which will allow for the practical implementation of the acquired knowledge about water protection and ecology.
2. Water quality monitoring - both projects introduce a water quality monitoring system. In the current project, it is planned to purchase specialized equipment (autonomous measuring buoy, Water drone, mobile water quality meters). devices will be used and their operation will be presented, which will enable a comprehensive analysis and understanding of the state of the aquatic environment.
3. Research and analysis - organizing research workshops in one project and examining sources of pollution during Festivals in the planned project will allow for the collection of data that can be jointly analyzed and constitute the basis for future activities based on the Program developed in one project.
4. Ecological education - both initiatives involve schools and young people in educational activities, which helps to raise ecological awareness and public involvement.
5. Investments for environmental protection - introducing investments aimed at strengthening the protection and preservation of nature, such as the purchase of a sewage pump and drones for air pollution analysis, are concrete steps towards sustainable development. Through these common elements, projects will be able to exchange experiences, use common resources and work effectively to protect and improve the environment in the cross-border area. (EN), "Lakes connect" project, implemented as part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region 2021- 2027 (EN) | The "Lakes connect" project, implemented as part of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region 2021-2027, objective 2.1 Sustainable waters, involves cooperation between authorities, NGOs and scientists to reduce the impact of tourism on the quality of water in lakes.
The aim of the project is to build a network hub for entities interested in knowledgebased solutions limiting the impact of tourism on the quality of inland waters. A key goal of the project is to build trust to raise awareness about lake pollution. This will be
done by organizing meetings and trainings that will enable the synergy of scientific knowledge with knowledge about real problems of local communities. International cooperation will enable the exchange of experiences and the development of good
practices in the cooperation of authorities at various levels of government with the scientific community and other organizations.
The pilot studies of the water quality of selected water reservoirs carried out as part of the project will be presented to researchers. The preliminary inventory of pollution will allow for better identification of the problem and will increase the knowledge of

- Environmental protection of the Baltic Sea - the project supports the objectives of protecting the waters of the Baltic Sea by educating the public about the impact of pollution on the marine environment.

Other The project contributes to the implementation of the Strategy Land of Great Masurian Lakes, as a result of cooperation between the local governments of Giżycko and the Vilnius region. The planned activities are part of the main objective: Increasing the competitiveness of the Great Masurian Lakes area in terms of tourist attractiveness, business conditions and high quality natural environment and living conditions. The activities planned in the project have improved the environmental quality and thus the region will be more attractive in terms of tourism.
Other The project contributes to the implementation of The 2021-2026 environmental monitoring program of Vilnius district municipality.
The activities planned in the project are aimed at increasing the importance of ecological sciences, facilitating the effective use of available information on the state of the environment and its protection, and promoting a greater role of research and educational activities in the activities of international environmental information networks. The project obliges the project parties to collect, analyze, scientifically evaluate environmental data and information and exchange information and expertise.
Other The project implements the assumptions of the Development Strategy of the Rural Municipality of Giżycko for 2023-2030 and Environmental Protection Program for the Municipality of Giżycko for 2021-2025 with an outlook until 2028.
