Description (EN):

Shortage of radiologists in Lithuania and Latvia border regions is acute - there are no radiologists available in the hospitals on holidays and weekends when the tendency of accidents is increasing. Also during the working days the radiologists are not available all the time. This is the crucial link in patient care between the health problem and adequate treatment. The project increases the quality of life for inhabitants in border areas of Latvia and Lithuania by improving health care services of local hospitals and contributing to socioeconomic development of these areas. The project results in more effective and efficient patient care in Preili Hospital (LV), Ludza District Hospital (LV) and Zarasai Hospital (LT) by provision of high quality round-the-clock timely and precise diagnostic radiology services with the help of innovative teleradiology solutions. This helps to overcome problem of lack of radiology personnel in these hospitals by assistance rendered and competences transferred from academic medical centres.
